Season 11/12 our target-
The aim of the club is to develop a strong Ladies section and for the teams to play at the highest level possible.
The aim for next season is promotion to the East Midlands regional first division and for the reserve team to be as strong as possible in the county league 2nd division.
To achieve this we all have to be committed to the cause and give 100% in training and games which I know you will all give.

Here at Dronfield Town we are very lucky to have a fantastic junior section, which will produce players every season and they will come in to the ladies squad at reserve team level at least. We have the full backing of the junior section in what we are trying to achieve with the adult section and the junior managers will encourage players to step up to the adult level when the time is right for both player and Club.
So we all have to accept that this is going to happen, as and when the time is right the club will consider a third team and over 35’s team for you to continue playing if you so wish!
The junior players are the players of the future and the club wants to offer all players the opportunity to continue playing at adult level.
New players
We also will require new players from outside the club to help us achieve our goal! So please make any new player welcome and help them settle into the squad, we have done this very well this season with Charlie, Annabel, Amy Taylor and Emma who have all become an important part of the squad along with the player’s who have come through From the junior section.

I would like you as players to talk to your friends who are currently playing at another club or this club and invite them along to training when we resume in June.
Players that come in to the squad who are have friends already in the squad; will settle in easier than players who do not already know anybody in the squad.
The Squad system how it will work!

The Ladies section will be one squad of hopefully 32 players; ( all current players will be resigned for next season)
Each player will be available for selection for the 1st or reserve team!
Kevin will have first pick of all available players each week, then Tom will pick his team from the players left.
Kevin will ask Tom to play players in the reserve team when they are coming back from injury or loss of form.
Training
Will continue on a Wednesday night all summer and next winter, we will have two thirds of the all weather surface, so we can all train together although we will be split in two or three groups depending on the session we agree to run on that evening.
Training must be attended or you may be left out of the squad and or dropped to the reserves!
Our training sessions consist of a small run every night this should be attended as part of the session late arrival on a regular basis will not excuse you from the run you will still have to do it (this means you could miss an important part of the session) which in turn means you may not be picked to start on a Sunday!
Only a valid excuse for missing training will be accepted and must come from you personally not sent via a team mate, ring/ text Kevin or Tom before the session is due to start we will then make a decision if it is a valid excuse!
Injuries
Please inform Kevin or Tom if you are injured or carrying an injury before the game at least, or in the days leading up to the game so that we can make a judgement whether to play you or not, if you do not inform us you may take a place in the team that could have gone to someone who is fully fit.
If you feel a pull or take a knock in training pull up straight away so that we can get you treatment
DO NOT TRY TO RUN IT OFF; THIS MAY AGGREVATE THE INJURY FURTHER MEANING YOU MAY MISS MORE GAMES THAN NESSARY.
Subscriptions-
This season I have struggled to get the month fees in on time each month!
Next season would you prefer a higher match fee and no month fee?
This is the reason we would like a team treasurer to collect them on our behalf.
Next seasons subs have not been decided yet so I do not know how much it will be.
This season without the month fee the match fee would have been
£4.40 per player per game based on 16 players being picked, our being available to play so if less plays the subs will be higher.
Eg 14 players = £5.00 each.
11 players = £6.36 each.

CLUB JACKETS
Some of you have been given club jackets and tracksuits to wear some players wear these without fail others just do not bother!
The jackets given to you where bought by money raised by the junior team and the girls worked hard to raise the funds.
We agree that you all need new Jackets so I propose that every player tries to find a sponsor to pay for a new jacket the cost of the jackets is approximately £25.
In return for their £25 we will put your sponsors name/ web address on your player profile page.
Alternatively does anyone know anyone who would sponsor the whole squad and we can put their company name on the jacket as well as on the web site?
The new jackets then must be worn for every game so that we do not look like rag tag and bob tail when we arrive at the ground!
Fund Raising
The club are holding their annual 10k /fun run on Friday May 27th so if anyone would like to run and get sponsored this would go into teams own funds and towards further kit purchases.
We are still awaiting Planning permission for the flood lights at Stonelow as and when we get permission we will then have to channel all our fund raising activities into raising the funds to purchase the lights current costing’s stand at £40,000!
Pitch Allocation
The first team will continue to play on Stonelow next season with the reserves playing on Coal Aston or Gosforth, the favoured pitch by the club for the reserves would be Coal Aston.
Preseason/ summer training
Summer training will resume on Wednesday 8th June on Stonelow road at 7pm.
The duration of the session has yet to be decided.
The reason for going back to training in June is so that you can maintain your fitness levels rather than have build them back up!
I will be inviting Lucy to attend the sessions and run fitness work again when she returns from University, again this is all part of our training session and you should take an active part in this session.

DTFC 5-0 Hilton Ladies

In our final friendly of the pre-season, we faced Hilton Ladies FC at home. It was a fine day although a bit overcast at times as the crowd waited for the kick off.

Town got off to a great start. Jane Barnett scored a beautiful goal after just three minutes following a short pass to her by Amy Taylor on the right wing. Maddy Wood combined with Andrea Ainley on the right wing who crossed the ball into the middle for Kerry Rosenthall to have a shot on goal. Kerry was in the thick of the action once again in the 25th minute, when she was felled after a great run down the left wing. The resultant free kick by Andrea was low and down to the left and was just kept out by their keeper to deny a second goal. Kerry was substituted after half an hour and replaced by Sarah Taylor. Kerry had done really well once again for Town and we all look forward to her playing for the team once the regular season begins. Rebekah Haigh came on after 37 minutes replacing Andrea who had shown some good touches up front. Hilton managed their first shot on goal after 38 minutes but the effort went wide left. Jane had another shot just before the break and the half finished with Sarah after a shot go just past the left post after a good run down the left wing.

At the start of the second half, Lorraine Beeby made her first appearance for the club this season replacing Hannah Patterson in the centre of the defence alongside Helen Ireland. Town were on the attack from the off once again, Amy having a shot on goal. Rebecca Camsell playing on the right of midfield had a close range effort saved by the keeper after being involved in the build-up. Ten minutes into the second half, Hilton had another attempt on goal, a lob which just went over the top of Lauren Broadhead and the bar and the crowd breathed a sigh of relief. Rebecca came off on 58 minutes after having a fine game to be replaced by Cheryl Law. Cheryl didn’t waste any time and was immediately into the action after a lovely through ball by Amy but shot wide right. This was followed by another strong run but this time pulled the shot to the left. On the hour mark and against the run of play a surprise attack by Hilton caused alarm, their shot going just wide of the left post. On fire Cheryl didn’t disappoint and scored her first goal of the season on 65 minutes to put Town 2-0 up after again fine work by Amy.

Andrea came back on shortly afterwards in place of Maddy Wood and immediately had a shot on goal. Hilton went very close to scoring moments later, Lauren diving to her left made a brilliant save pushing the ball out wide but perilously close to an on rushing Hilton player, but Harriet Starkey saved the day and cleared the danger. On 69 minutes Amy went off to be replaced by Maddy who was back on minutes later replacing Rebekah. Megan replaced Sarah after 73 minutes and shortly afterwards Andrea went close to scoring. A good save once again by Lauren leads to a swift counter attack by Town and Jane gets her second goal of the game in the 75th minute, 3-0 to the home side. Jane had another shot moments later after good work by Megan and Amy but shot straight at the keeper. Charlotte Wrigley had a good game at left back and gave way to Francine Bridges with nine minutes to go. Jane got her third goal with three minutes left with an assist going to Andrea but there was still more to come. Amy had a shot well saved by the keeper much to her dismay. With two minutes to go Helen got her first goal for the team with the ball just going over the line to complete the scoring.

Well done team and we all wish you well for your first game of the season next week away to Woodland Ladies.

Dronfield Town FC Ladies 0-3 Sheffield FC Ladies Reserves

This was our third friendly of the preseason at home to Sheffield FC Ladies Reserves on a sunny Tuesday evening. The game again saw the debuts of several new players including Harriet Starkey starting at centre back, Ellie Robinson, Rebekah Haigh & Jess Walker & veteran Maddy Wood.

The game started with Sheffield dominating the game with several excellent attacks down both flanks, in particular their left back who had speed to burn. However it we did have some chances and Jane Barnett had a couple of shots on goal around the midway point of the half. Sheffield continued to attack and had numerous chances go just past either post or over the bar. On the half hour mark Jess Walker made her debut for the team in place of Amy Taylor. With ten minutes to go a lovely through ball by Andrea Ainley nearly put Jane through clear on goal.

At half time, the game was scoreless but Sheffield looked the better and more well drilled side. However we were certainly defending resolutely and carried an attacking threat.

Sarah Taylor had the first shot on goal for either side at the beginning of the second half but the shot was narrowly wide right. Sheffield finally found the net, 4 minutes into the second half with a lovely first time effort that went into the top right corner. Two minutes later Town had a free kick which went straight at the keeper who made a comfortable save. Jane was substituted after 53 minutes and replaced up front by Ellie, who went on to give an industrious performance up front. Sheffield then scored a second, this time from close range on 57 minutes to extend their lead. Rebekah made her debut after 64 minutes replacing Jess Walker who had a fine game in her first match for the team. Lorna Olijnyk made a fine save after replacing Lauren Broadhead in goal from a Sheffield corner to keep the deficit at two. Sheffield scored a third 15 minutes from time tapping in the ball at the right stick after it had come through a crowd of players to finish the scoring.

Well done to everyone for a good game but especially to all the new players playing their first game for the team. Thank you to Sheffield FC Ladies Reserves for coming and playing us and for being excellent opponents.

Match Report -
Dronfield Town FC Ladies 0-13 Doncaster Rovers Belles

Our second match of the pre-season saw us face the mighty Doncaster Rovers Belles at home on a pleasant Tuesday evening. This again marked the competitive debuts of several players including Charlotte (who started at left back), Megan & Andrea Ainley. Hilary Rees also made a special guest appearance before her adventures abroad begin shortly.

Town were immediately under pressure from the kick off and the defence were being tested to the fullest. Hannah Patterson was doing a great job covering the quick Doncaster forwards along with Charlotte who was having a good debut at left back. Sophie Turner was substituted after 5 minutes and replaced by Francine Bridges after picking up an injury. Doncaster continued to press and went into the lead with a wonderful first time shot, a second & third follow shortly afterwards as they showed why they are such a good side. Kerry Rosenthall came on after 23 minutes for her second appearance replacing Sarah Taylor in midfield. Hannah continued to do sterling work tracking back and made a brilliant tackle inside the box to deny Doncaster just before they scored their fourth. In the fortieth and forty first minutes two corners brought outstanding saves from Lauren Broadhead. However by half time Doncaster had scored another with a close range effort from inside the penalty area.

The second half started with a blitz from Doncaster who stepped a gear scoring four goals in seven minutes. Town did manage to create a chance in the 53rd minute; Jane Barnett shot from just outside the area was saved by their keeper. Doncaster scored a lovely breakaway goal on 66 minutes with the credit going to their quick number 14 who showed electric pace all through the game. Doncaster scored a further two goals in the 69th & 71st minutes either side of an outstanding save by Lauren well down to her left on 70 minutes followed by an authoritative punch to clear another threat. Hilary came off shortly afterwards and was replaced by Sarah. The manger made some substitutions in the 76th minute, but in the failing light it was impossible to see who it was from fine new stand on the other side of the pitch. When Doncaster scored a goal in the 79th minute the referee blew for time and we applauded both teams for their efforts.

The players mustn’t feel too down for Doncaster are a quality side that would trouble any women’s side in the country and this will be the toughest game they play this season.

Dronfield Town would like to thank Doncaster Belles for sending a team which included First and reserve team players along with some very promising 18 year olds.
Both teams played with the correct spirit and finished with a mutual respect for each other.
This is the model we as a club are trying to emalate by all the girls teams playing under the ladies heading and with the right coaching and leadership we can achieve this goal.
Well done to all the team on what was an extremly tough night you all gave 100% and that is all a manager can ask.

Glossop v DTFC

Glossop North End 1-1 Dronfield Town FC Ladies

On a sunny day, we all assembled in the Pioneer Club Car Park to head off into the Peak District for a friendly against Glossop North End Ladies. After a pleasant journey, we arrived at their all-weather pitch in the small residential town of Hadfield in the High Peak.

The game marked the debuts of several new players including 3 Amy’s, Emma, Lorna, Kerry & Terri. Town had a shot on goal after ten minutes from a throw in on the left side taken by Amy Garland onto Amy Taylor, who headed it onto Amy Webster who had the shot on goal.

11 minutes in and Glossop attacked down their left and the ball eventually found its way back into the middle to one of their players who lobbed the ball high into the air and over Lauren’s valiant outstretched hand into the back of the net. Amy Webster (‘Webo’) had another shot on goal on 17 minutes before the manager made the first of his changes. Kerry Rosenthall came on for Amy Taylor who had performed well in her first appearance for the team. Sophie Turner then had a shot from wide on the right go over the bar before a searching cross from Amy Garland begged for someone to tap it in on 22 minutes. Terri Williamson came on for Sophie after 23 minutes and Amy Taylor came back on for Amy Webster after 32 minutes who had made an excellent impression up front. Glossop North End continued to prove a threat all through the half but in the last minutes of the first half had several good chances to extend their lead.

Seven minutes from the break Glossop North End broke through our defence creating a one on one with our keeper, Lauren Broadhead saved the situation by quickly coming out and forcing their player to shoot wide. A cross from the right narrowly missed their talented number 11 and a corner from the left was headed over the bar moments later.

At half time, the Manager changed keepers giving another debut this time to Lorna Olijnyk.

Glossop had a couple of early chances in the second half before a period of Town pressure saw Terri, Kerry and Amy Taylor all have attempts on goal but we couldn’t break our duck. 18 minutes into the second half and Lorna made a stunning save to down to her right to keep the team in the game. Amy Webster and Sophie returned to the action, 23 minutes into the second half and gave Helen Ireland and Kerry well deserved rests. ‘Webo’ was immediately into the action firing another shot goal wards. However it was last season’s goal machine Jane Barnett whose powerful shot on goal after half an hour of the second half that gave us our equaliser. Glossop then rattled the crossbar with a shot to remind us what a quality side they are. Sarah Taylor on as a substitute had a shot go narrowly wide before a free kick from Lauren Broadhead playing outfield created an opportunity for Jane to had a second. Good play down the right hand side on 40 minutes between ‘Webo’, Emma Barker and Sophie created another opportunity for Jane. Town finished the game with Terri having the final shot on goal.

Well done to everybody, good play and teamwork and a well-deserved draw against a tough opponent. This bodes well for the rest of the preseason and season to come.
