SEASON REVIEW.
When the season started in september we knew it would be a tough season but not as tough as it turned out.
This season saw the return of hannah to our squad and the signing of Ruby, while hannah was missing for the first few weeks and ruby took time to settle in to the squad the season started well, away at Middlewood we took a 2-0 lead and every thing looked good a bit of bad look and poor refereing gave the home team what looked like comfortable win .
After the first game we did not expect to go on the run of defeats that followed, we went 13 games with out picking up a point even though we gave teams a tough game the results just did not go our way the defeat at home to Aston was hard to take, having dominated the game we conceded 2 goals against the run of play and when we attacked the luck did not go our way,.
After this game was my lowest point i felt i had let the whole squad down and my emotions came flooding out my apologies for this and thankyou for the kind words of support from all the players and parents.
This took us into a long christmas break and was just what we needed, When we returned to action the team had found a new determination and gave every thing they could but it wasn't until the end of febuary that the elusive first win came away at Aston
THE DAY WE HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR !
Came at long last away at Aston the whole squad was available for selection for the first time this season, and all where determined not to let each other down.
The girls started well soon putting Aston on the back foot and playing with purpose the break through came on ten minutes when Ruby lobbed the keeper (elation) this was just the start we needed and confidence went through the roof when hHilary went through and slotted in the second (13).
This was quickly followed by Ruby's second on 16 mins and we were cruising, Aston then made there substitution by taking off the keeper and changing the formation but town were in no mood to give this lead up and went through to half time quite comfortably.
Half time 0-3
The second half kicked off and town went straight back on the attack with Hannah getting her first goal for the club since the first season (48) and it was met with some joyfull scenes
the girls were now enjoying themselves and playing some lovely football, Hannah scored her second on (55) when she latched on to a through ball and the win was sealed.
Lauren was commanding her area, Charlie was holding the back line with Rebecca h , Alicia playing at left back was in a mean mood not giving an inch, Natalie was as reliable as ever and got forard to put pressure on the home teams defence, Maddy, Hilary and Jessica v were strong in midfield and never lost a challenge. The front three of Ruby, Hannah and Jesica w gave the defenders a torrid time and when called upon were back in thier own box helping out but for two late goals for Aston, town were always in comand the subs came on and did a sterling job in holding it all together untill the final whistle which was met by scenes of relief and jubilation,
This win was the reward for all the defeats we have endured this season and the girls deserve this moment.
We hope that the girls from Aston understand the celebrations that took place and we now it has been a hard season for them also but we respect you as a team and as individuals.
The Lady of the match Award went to Jessica Warwick for an outstanding display up front which deserved a goal.

This gave the team a much needed boost and in the following game we took Handsworth to the wire with a fine performance which had the visitors clinging on for a win at the end. The season drew to close were it all started at Middlewood on a bright sunny morning the team was in high spirits despite the heavy defeats of the season we went out to enjoy the final game.
