As a new team in 2005, the Duke of Cornwall team did not have the best start to the 2005/06 season coming up against well established sunday league football teams. The season was used to build a squad of players and just enjoy playing football as an 11 aside team,it took several games for the team to record their first goal let alone win but it eventually came.

After the RCIL Sunday League being split into 2 divisions the whole team felt they could be serious contenders for a top 2 position. They started the season well recording 2 wins, scoring 6 goals and conceding only 2.

The new season brought high hopes. The Dukes started the season well with some good results against Colan and Blue Anchor. Then a poor run of results meant we were sent down back to earth with a big bump. The form pretty much went win 1 lose 1. No consistency and a long Christmas break didn't help. No cup run put together wither until we found out that we were in the semi final of the White Hart Memorial Shield. We beat Newmoor 1-0 to book a place in the final against Tregonissey. On May 18th we took a coach of players and supporters on a day out to St Breward where the final was to be played. Lets just say our season didn't finish as well as it started and we lost 3-0. It was our first final and hopefully not our last. It gave us much needed experience and showed how we would react in those conditions. A dismal first half and conceded 3 sloppy goals, but a spirited second half showed us that we can play well enough to possibly cause an upset next season. We need to treat each game as if it were a final. Bring on 2008/09
