Coming from a town of outstanding football tradition - as recently as 1951, a team from the town played Celtic at Parkhead in the Scottish Cup and were far from disgraced in losing 4-0 - DUNS AFC have been worthy heirs at amateur level to the illustrious names of the past.
In the closing years of the last millennium, the club - then known as Duns Legion FC - swept all before them in local football, including a couple of successes in the prestigious South of Scotland Amateur Cup, and an impressive array of local Borders trophies. Football brings, however, its share of swings and rounabouts, and in the past few seasons Duns have languished at the wrong end of the table.
However, the Dingers now look all set for a new chapter in the club history with Duns FC being accepted into the East of Scotland 1st Division after a 37 year absense, and also Duns Amateurs competing in the Border Amateur A Division
