Report

Quiet, dull and lacklustre are probably the best words that can be used to describe our efforts for what was our best chance of taking something from a pretty non-descript season.
Within 10 minutes Steve Quarmby lost out to a run on the left wing and with nobody else closing the player, he was able to pick a pass unchallenged with Tony Wakeford left totally exposed for 0-1.
Midway through the half it was 0-2 and we were thankfull to go into the break at that point.
A few chosen words were used to try and motivate the players for a better performance which would normally work but most looked bruised and unwilling to fight!
Cowes extended the lead to three and even when DAN SILK picked himself up to bury a penalty with 15 minutes to go even that failed to light a fuse!
We had chances, most notably another Dan Silk effort which struck the post but to be fair our opponents deserved the win and won at a canter.
A very dissapointed Rob fumed, 'as a player I knew that there is nothing better than taking part in a cup final. I was fortunate to play in a few myself and as a manager I was hoping to take part in one in a different role but most of these guys looked totally dis-interested and that has really annoyed me. My one wish is that these players never miss out on one and don't have to look back at this game as the only chance they had!?'
