Well done Eccleshall Eagles u17s for their 4 - 3 win in their last league game for season 2011 - 2012!!! the game was against this season's third placed team.
Enjoy the next four weeks and then join us for training on Saturday 23rd June 2012.
Well we finished the season with a flourish with a well deserved win over the league third placed team, Biddulph Town. In truth this wasn't our best defensive display, but we never let our heads drop and fought manfully against our robust opposition, who had two players booked and possibly could have had more! After going one down after 14mins Ben James latched on to a Biddulph defensive error to cooly slot home the equaliser on 24 minutes. On 51 minutes Biddulph retook the lead only for Hamish Farmer to be brought down by the Biddulph Keeper who was the last man and had been booked earlier in the 1st half. The outcome was a penalty kick, which Hamish rammed confidently home on 62 minutes, but no further action was taken by our match official against the offender. Having made our three substitutions, the first for Craig Morgan who was taken late and seems to have suffered some ankle ligament damage, two of the subs cpmbined to create our third goal, Tom Webb chased down what looked like a lost cause, regained his balance, got to the by-line and cut the ball accurately back for Ethan Morrey to slam it home, 3 - 2 to us (67 mins). Next followed some severe Biddulph pressure, but with some fine tackling and blocking they were kept at bay until the 71st minutewhen they scored with a fine header to make it 3 - 3. At this point it was noticeable that our fitness was superior to the oppositions and the third substitute, Toby Taylor gained possession in the centre of midfield, looked up and passed down the right channel, which freed of Gareth Hawkins who combined well with Ethan Morrey and this allowed Ethan to cut back from the touchline, this time for Hamish Farmer to blast home his second and the club's fourth and the game's winner. the final result, 4 - 3 to us.
