1st half
We were battling hard against Hawkins, who have a good score sheet. They were playing well but we were making hard work of the game.
Lewis, Luke and Jon were holding them off and clearing the balls up field, and tackling when required.
Arran made a few good saves, but our defence was holding up strong. We saved ourselves from one of their corners, but after a second 20 minutes into the game we conceeded a goal from a corner, for a great header past Arran.
We stepped up our game slightly, and saw several chances from Alex Lee, Luke, Theo, Oli and Alex Hague, but their keeper was saving all we threw at him.

2nd half
After a half time talk to get ourselves motivated, we set off and soon got fired up. Again, a few missed chances, and shots wide, we were then on the back foot as they had stepped up the challenge, and we couldn-t get the ball out of our end, and at times it looked like they were going to get another, but all feet to the pedal, we managed to get the ball kicked out to catch our breath.
After making several substitutions and changes, we brought life to the game and giving our players a rest in the heat. Alex Hague was trying hard to get through and cames only inches from scoring, and Dan Bate stopping them from their every move, as he marked his opponent well.
Putting Oli behind Lewis as another wall of defence proved to hold up, although Lewis was doing a fine job, but when they did manage to get through, Oli stopped them from edging any closer.
All Zenit players were giving it their all, and we could feel it was only a matter of time before we clawed one back, when Alex Lee kneed the ball past their keeper only minutes from the end (1-1).
Luke was a power horse working up and down the pitch, taking on players in stride, making the game look so easy at times.
Theo did exceptionally well in chasing their players, getting his foot to the ball, putting it out of play, and sometimes winning the ball, nicely turning them.
Just when we thought it was all over, Alex lee comes up with a bolt from nowhere, past their keeper (2-1).
I think if he had of got to the ball, he wold have gone with it!
