With the wing blowing straight down the pitch Jeynes decided to play with the advantage in the first half. Grove had the better of early possession and the Prince of Wales keeper did well to save from close range when Jones had squared to Gillibrand.

Setterfield in the Grove goal did well to save smartly after a Prince of Wales player broke through the defence but that was the only time he was called into action in the first half.

Despite Grove having the lions share of the territory and majority of possession the Prince of Wales keeper was never really called upon to make a save. A series of corners towards the end of the half did exert some pressure on the Prince of Wales although they will have been much the happier at half time.

The second half unusually followed the theme of the first half and it was the Grove who were forcing the play. On 50 minutes an Antonczyk corner was swung in from the right, the ball came back out to him and an inch perfect cross found Marsh who was able to nod home whilst unmarked at the far post.

Five minutes later Sibanda went through himself before rounding an advancing Prince of Wales keeper and stroking the ball home,

At 2 - 0 Love and Scurfield entered the field of play for Jeynes and Gillibrand. Prince of Wales looked more than dejected and Grove capitalised further when on 65 minutes Mahon raced on to a through ball from Jones. His shot was part blocked by the keeper but the ball rebounded kindly to enable Mahon to fire into an empty net.

At 3 - 0 the game was effectively over and Morley entered the field of play for Mahon who had run himself to a standstill. A 4-5-1 formation saw out the remainder of the game with ease giving us a fine victory and a place in the last 16 of the county cup.
