Report

On the back of a thumping 11-1 win, Royals were confident they could carry on their good form by bagging another win from, second from bottom, Legra YFC. However, with Royals expecting a similar victory as last week.... they were stunned by 2 early goals from Legra. Having just 10 men avaliable didnt help Royals in turning the game around!. However, a stunning strike from Donovan West continued his goal form and brought Royals back into the game. Just as Royals started to find their feet in the game, Legra struck a blow with the vital 4th goal of the game and Royals defence fell asleep once again. With just 10 men, Royals were majorly affected when captain Luke Doyle was studded by a Legra defender leaving him with a nasty cut on his leg. This left Royals with 9 men when he exited the field. Luke returned just before half time to return the team with 10 men as the final whistle went with the scoreline at 3-1. Manager Cavan Carey was dissapointed at half time with the performance of his boys but he knew it would be hard with 10 men. He encouraged and believed in his team during the half time team talk which seem to had paid off when defender Ryan Hersom made an exlosive run from the back and was then put in beautifuly by midfielder Brad Eyre, 3-2. Royals then started to believe they could take something from the game. The defence found its lost solid form, with the attack creating all sorts of chances up top and passing really starting to flow and pick up tempo. Royals were then given an invitation back into the game when -Crazy Jack- Jack Butler was -fouled- in the box by a Legra defender, - Contact was made but lets just say jack seemed to be having private dramatic diving lessons of the field! -. With jack making a drama of the contact made he shot to the floor and the referee pointed to the spot. No complaints were made by Legra so Jack must have been fouled. Captain Luke Doyle stepped up..... and cooly tucked the ball into the left corner. Royals had brought it back to 3-3 from 3-1 down with just 10 men!. The referee signaled to Cavan there was just 2 minutes left plus stoppage time and both teams really started to push. Legra were caught on the attack with Luke Doyle running the ball past the left back and -amazingly- beating him for pace!. He held the ball for support and Jack Butler won the team a corner. This was royals last chance... Luke floated the ball in the box which was met by the head of Donovan West!. Don-s second of the game and royals seemed to have completed an amazing comeback. Then in the last minute of the game Royals had another attack were Luke Doyle had one defender to beat but instead opted to hold the ball in the corner to run down the clock. A goal kick was awarded to Legra but as it was taken the ref called the end of an extraordinary comeback for Essex Royals!. Cavan will be delighted with the 3 points but would of wished his team wouldn-t have made it so hard for themselves!. Great performance in the end from everybody!. Bring on Leigh Ramblers.
