Under 10's Tigers
ESSEX ROYALS TIGERS V Elmwood Colts
sunday 18th november 2007
score 2-2
FREEZING COLD this is how we will all remember this game.
We decided this week to gamble and not take any subs, Pedro was once again in goal for the whole match and did a great job, Mitchell and Jake were in defence, Tyrone who is often a sub played the whole game in defence/midfield, Sam and Ryan were once again our wingers and Joseph in attack.
The game started well for the ROYALS with us being awarded a penalty (which made a nice change for it not to be awarded against us) Joseph was chosen to take responsibility and done well by smashing the ball into the back of the net. Elmwood came back with an equaliser and at half time it was 1-1.
The second half started well with the ever present Ryan deciding to score a wonder goal by a well taken volley(great goal Ryan i hope your dad paid you double for that one).
The game continued with lots of chances, Sam came close by hitting the post and there were other times when the ball was on the line but just wouldnt go in. The boys hung on until what appeared to be deep into injury time and as luck would have it for the second time this season Elmwood had a corner and scored with one of the last kicks of the match.
Tyrone was awarded MAN OF THE MATCH for his overall play and enthusiasm - well done.
ESSEX ROYALS TIGERS V Hawkwell Ath
11th November 2007
lost 4-0
This was a game of two halves, the first half we showed we were the better team putting good pressure on the opposition but just failing to score.
We changed the team around at half time bringing on two subs.
We conceded three very early goals in a short space of time, this unfortunatley changed the game and by the final whistle we found ourselelves 4-0 the losers.
This was the third game in a row that we had lost the boys were very quiet at the end however it did show us the importance of keeping players in their same positions.
MAN OF THE MATCH MITCHELL
4th November 2007
ESSEX ROYALS TIGERS V Benfleet Villa
RESULT LOST 5-0
This was deffeniatly our worst result so far, John Pedro was once again in goal if he wasnt we would have certainly been looking at double the result. Pedro made some superb saves and where i was standing by the opposition parents i kept hearing them say what a great keeper WELL DONE PEDRO.
The first half we started well macthing the opposition but unfortunatley found ourselves 2-0 down at half time, at the begining of the second half we found ourselves 3-0 down and just couldnt recover.
This game was against a side that were top of the table and could pass the ball well, it showed us that we have to get back quicker and defend otherwise we will concede goals.
Tyrone came on at various times throughought the match and was full of running and produced a great corner in the second half that nearly produced a goal WELL DONE TYRONE.
MAN OF THE MATCH JAKE
ESSEX ROYALS TIGERS V Hullbridge Sports
sunday 28th October 2007
lost 4-2
This was a cup match against opposition two divisions higher, we started well with Sam scoring our first goal. Hullbridge sports equalised with a penalty and soon after scored a second goal making the score 2-1 at half time.
The boys were still full of energy and couldnt wait for the second half to begin, the game had been tight in the first half and it looked like either team could go on to win. Our hopes were dashed in early in the second half when hullbridge scored another goal making it 3-1, they added another before sam scored a second goal for the Royals.
This was a very close game unfortunatley the scoreline didnt reflect this (especially with the fact they were in a higher division) all the boys that played made it very enjoyable game to watch and all showed great determination.
MAN OF THE MATCH SAM
20th October 2007
ESSEX ROYLAS TIGERS V Leigh Ramblers
RESULT 2-1
This was our fourth league match and after our win against Catholic united cougars the boys were determined and excited as ever.
John pedro was once again in goal and showed why he was no 1 choice between the sticks.
The game stated well with Ryan scoring an early goal within the first few minutes, he managed to take the ball beyond the Leigh ramblers defence and slot the ball home.
Our second goal came after appro.x 10 minutes by Robert smashing the ball into the back of the net, this was a great position for the boys as Leigh Ramblers had only 4 goals against them in their previous four matches.
We continued with some great defending our defence of Jake, Mitchell and Joseph was working well.
Sam and Ryan were once again full of energy and running and played their part in a great team performance, Robert played in attack and as prviously mentioned scored our second goal.
Leigh Ramblers scored in the second half and even in the final few minutes had their goal keeper coming up for corners to try and get an equaliser, but the boys hung on and recorded a second league win of the season.
MAN OF THE MATCH was awarded to Pedro for some outstanding saves and a great overall performance.
SUNDAY 7TH OCTOBER 2007
CATHOLIC UTD V ESSEX ROYALS TIGERS
We decided to play a 2 1 2 1 formation for the first time, from the start our shape looked better and it enabled us to put more pressure on our opponents.
Pedro was goalie for the whole match and once again didnt put a foot wrong.
Mitchell and Jake were our two defenders, Mitchell came close to scoring in the second half after hitting the crossbar, Jake was great again making some good tackles and clearing the ball well.
Joseph played in front of the two defenders, he worked realy hard and made some good runs, his excellent overall play and his winning goal saw him earn MAN OF THE MATCH which was well deserved.
Sam and Ryan were our midfield, Sam once again showed some great trickery moving past his opponents, Ryan made some great runs and played the ball well.
Mathew and George shared the attack, this was a new position for Mathew and he showed he looked comfortable playing there.
This was our first win in the league and hopefully the first of many.
Sunday 1st October 2007
Essex Royals Tigers v Island Boys
Result 2-2
Our second game of the season, we decided that Pedro should be in goal for the whole match instead of sharing with Joseph, we played with three defenders Jake, Mitchell and Joseph.
Our two midfielders were the ever present Ryan and Sam with Robert playing in attack.
We found ourselves 1 - 0 down at half time, this had not put the boys off as they couldnt wait for the second half to kick off.
Shortly after the break we were unlucky to concead a penalty, pedro managed to get a hand to the ball but the ball went in and we found ourselves 2- 0 down.
The boys were still full of running and late in the second half Sam scored and made it 2 - 1, this gave the boys enthusiasm and confidence to push forward again and within minutes Robert smashed the ball into the back of the net to make it 2 - 2 (what a comeback).
With minutes to go confidence was high and it was looking like we were going on to grab a winner, our hopes were dashed when Island boys caught us on the break and scored with 20 seconds left on the clock.
The two substitutes Mathew and George were used throughout the two halfs and were full of running.
In this game the boys showed that even at 2 - 0 down they didnt let their heads drop and still had the will to win even late in the game, it was a great game to watch.
Man of the match was awarded to Ryan , he didnt stop running and played some great football.
Sunday 23rd September 2007
Essex Royals tigers v Benfleet Villa
This was our first league match and was entered with great enthusiasm and excitement.
Joseph and Pedro shared goalkeeping duty and both showed an excellent display between the sticks.
We played with three defenders Mitchell, Jake and Joseph (when not playing in goal),
Sam and Ryan were picked to play in midfield , Sam scored our goal and was awarded man of the match for his goal and excellent play.
Robert and Tyrone shared attacking duties both doing well and were full of running.
There were chances at either end , a 1 - 1 draw was a fair result as both teams played end to end football.
All the boys gave 110% in this match this was shown by 9 red faces and looking like they had given everything.
It was great to see in our first league match that all the boys had great enthusiasm for the game.
