A griity but much improved performance saw royals achieve their first win of the season goals from lee,volkan,matthew (2) and tommy plus a great penalty save from brett were enought to see off a lacklustre Thames who are currently 2nd in the the league

Stanford Wanderers 4 Essex Royals 1
An extremley tough game against a very physical stanford a howling gale against us and going uphill in the first half saw us concede 3 goals in what was a very bruising first half . the 2nd half had us going downhill but by this time the wind had dropped so that advantage had gone.A much better 2nd half performance saw us get a goal back and start playing some good football as well as being just as physical as stanford . the tackles that were going in from ryan,joe ,volkan ,billy and alex had dean and myself wincing , however we were hit on the break and conceded again leaving us far too much to do but on the whole a very pleasing 2nd half performance despite the result.
