ABOUT THE TEAM

Hawkwell Athlectic 4 1 Essex Royals

Conceded 3 sloppy goals and missed chance after chance. All the good things that we had been doing went out of the window in this game everyone has to remember their responsibilities on the pitch wherever they are playing

Great Wakering Colts 1 0 Essex Royals

In conditions that in fairness to say werent exactly the best Royals put in yet another great performance but yet again failed to walk away with the points . Royals held their own against top ot the table wakering had a goal disallowed and conceded with only 5 minutes left.
Man of the Match Lee Byrne. Never stopped running

Essex Royals 1-3 Deansewood B

After last weeks poor display the first thing i was looking for was a reaction from the boys and wow did i get it.Some things were put right in training and the last thing i said to the boys before they took the pitch was give me and Ian ,your parents and yourselves a display to make us all proud. The performance they put in ,despite the result, was quite possibly the best i have witnessed in my time with this age group.Royals took an early lead through a deflected Lee Byrne corner (something which we had worked on in training) and for most of the half had the best of the play with one or two good chances going begging.Deaneswood soon forund their stride though and piled forward in numbers too equalize making the score at half time 1-1to say i was delighted at half time was an understatement. The 2nd half started a bit flat for us and a little bit of sloppiness saw Deaneswood take the lead but once again we found our feet started playing good football and almost equalized with Craig Wearne forcing a save from the keeper. The longet the game went on the more we had to chase and we were running out of steam when Deaneswood scored a quality goal from a corner. Like i said despite the result this was an outstanding performance against a very very good and organised Deaneswood team and if we carry on playing like that then surely results will start to come our way.
Man of the Match Michael Watts Outstanding

Essex Royals 1-3 Leigh Chapel

Probably the less said about this game the better beaten by a team that quite frankly we should have beaten comfortably!!!!!!!

This sunday saw us coming up against local side
Castledon Colts in a pre arraanged friendly, and despite the heavy rain the night before which saw Bromfords called we were able to hastily arrange the game at Runwell. Royals started a little sluggish and at times invited Colts onto us but with brett learning all the time about his positioning the long ball played through by colts gave us little threat. It wasnt long before we got our passing game going and some lovely moves down the flanks and some fierce shots from Lee Byrne almost gave us the opening we deserved.Patience was the key to this game and it wasnt long before Joe Brown was fed into the box who then side stepped the defender and slotted cooly home into the corner the first half was ours and deservedly so.The 2nd half started with some changes made and in reality Royals failed to get the ball down and play and with Colts starting to look more and more of a threat it wasnt long before the equalizer came form there on it was now a battle A great game ensued and the game could have gone either way with both sides squandering chances until Craig Wearne popped up on the right hand side to cooly finish with 10 minutes remaining Royals then shut up shop and some good disciplined midfield and defensive play saw us take the victory.
Man of the match Volkan Erylidz :- solid as a rock at right back

After driving to canvey in quite thick fog i rather wished the fog had got thicker and the game called off as Royals crashed to a disappointing 5-1 defeat .
The first half started poor for us but we quickly improved and limited concord to long range efforts until a defensive howler saw Joe Brown put through his own net with the keeper having, it would seem , to have lost his voice. The next 20 mins or so saw us getting back into the game with Warren Marshall always being a threat and working tirelessly up front on his own twice coming close to add to his account this season. The half time team talk was based on firing the defence and the midfield up and for them to start competing. However the half time team talk may as well have about sundays dinner as concord tooke the kick off and we allowed one boy to wander through the midfield and defence without a challenge and score concords 2nd after that concord never looked back and the next 10 mins saw them ripping through the defence to add to their tally twice. That being said some robust play from Joe Brown ,Jack Kelly and Volkan in the middle of the park saw us claw a goal back but it was never going to be enough and concord ended up 5-1 winners. Man of the Match was Joe Brown he didnt flinch one tackle and became more and more of a threat and menace to concord as the game went on.

Essex Royals 2 Deaneswood 3
A sloppy first half performance saw Royals defeated in a game that in reality could have gone either way. Defensive mix ups and our inablilty to clear the ball saw Deansewood go in at half time 0-2 up. A strong talk at half time rejuvenated the boys but once again we conceded a sloppy goal. A decision made by me to play Joe Brown in a more advanced roaming role supported by Jack Kelly almost changed the game 2 quick goals from Warren Marshall and Tommy Morris saw Deaneswood go immediately on the defensive and with more conviction up front i believe extra time could have been achieved however it was not to be and i am quite disappointed to be out of the cup first round. But as proved in the 2nd half we can beat teams of Deaneswoods quality if we play our football and keep believing

Essex Royals u15s got their season off to a great start against Pier Sports by emphatically wining 9-1 . Pier were always going to up against it with only 10 men and their woes grew deeper when injury forced them down to 9 . Hat tricks from Lee Byrne and Tommy Morris and goals from Warren Marshall ,Craig Wearne and Robbie Thorn.
Debuts for Jack Kelly and Callum Yeadon . Well done and welcome to Essex Royals u15s.
Man of the match Robbie Thorn. An outstanding contribution in midfiled.
A special mention must go to Volkan Eryldiz despite not being registered for this game he turned up and supported us for the whole game. Thank you Volkan
