Gritty Royals lose out to determined Deaneswood
Essex Royals 1-3 Deansewood B
After last weeks poor display the first thing i was looking for was a reaction from the boys and wow did i get it.Some things were put right in training and the last thing i said to the boys before they took the pitch was give me and Ian ,your parents and yourselves a display to make us all proud. The performance they put in ,despite the result, was quite possibly the best i have witnessed in my time with this age group.Royals took an early lead through a deflected Lee Byrne corner (something which we had worked on in training) and for most of the half had the best of the play with one or two good chances going begging.Deaneswood soon forund their stride though and piled forward in numbers too equalize making the score at half time 1-1to say i was delighted at half time was an understatement. The 2nd half started a bit flat for us and a little bit of sloppiness saw Deaneswood take the lead but once again we found our feet started playing good football and almost equalized with Craig Wearne forcing a save from the keeper. The longet the game went on the more we had to chase and we were running out of steam when Deaneswood scored a quality goal from a corner. Like i said despite the result this was an outstanding performance against a very very good and organised Deaneswood team and if we carry on playing like that then surely results will start to come our way.
