We are a new team formed in 2007, we were originally started in 2004 as Letham Tangerines. The team was started by Scott Moffat and Gary Moffat two brothers who formely played football for many years in the Perthshire leagues. In 2007 we moved from Letham to set up alongside an existing club known as Fair City. Fair City has been going for many years and it is a great honour for us to be able to allow the lads the set up and use of the changing facilities that an amutuer set up uses. The first season is a learning one for the new Fair City Boys and we home our future will be a long continous process of teaching young boys the football and the meeting of friends that they will carry with them through the years ahead.
Season 2008/2009 was the teams first competitive season and wow what a season. We started off the season via the Loch Lomond Soccer Festival where we finished as runners up ! The boys also entered the Scottish Cup where they reached the last 16 also being the only team from Perth at this age to get this far in the competition
We were in the Perth and Kinross league which the boys won their age group and also unbeaten in the league at their age. We were runners up in a local cup missing out on a penalty shoot out ! The boys also went on to win the Barry Steven Trophy, Barry was the First Scotsman to lose his life in Iraq. Lance Corporal Baz Stephen, who was 31 and from Perth. He was a member of 1st Battalion, The Black Watch, and was serving with his regiment in Southern Iraq when he was killed in action on Monday 24 March 2003 while on operation near Al Zubayr.RIP.
The season was also one for those with a head for figures with a total of 15 different goal scorers wow ! The Figures for the season got better with 206 Goals For and 53 Against and the last figure that I dont think will ever be matched was that we never failed to Score in a single game !
So was it a good season ? With out a doubt it was ! Well done to the boys for this season 2008/2009 and hopefully it will get better.
