Sat 03 Mar 2007  League Cup
Burpham Reserves 1
1st Team 3
Ollie Talbot (1)
Pete Batty (2)

Farncombe FC moved into the Quarter Finals of the League Cup with a hard fought win over Burpham Reserves.

Farncombe were surprisingly sluggish at the start and it was clear that their 442 formation was not working despite Talbot putting them a goal ahead.

Manager Darwen changed it to 433 with Gauld moving infield and immediately Farncombe picked up, creating better chances.

Captain for the day Batty made it 2-0 and that was the score at half-time.

Burpham started the second half the stronger and were awarded a penalty when Acton caught their centre-forward. Fortunately for Farncombe the penalty was put woefully wide. Burpham however fought on and pulled a goal back when their striker latched on to a ball over the top and finished well past Readman.

Farncombe battled back to control the game and Batty was on hand to turn in Thomas' cross-cum-shot to put the game out of Burpham's reach and book a quarter final place against Bedfont Green.

The double is still on.
