Established in 2004 after breaking away from then 2nd Kilbride by Raymond Murphy and Jeff Drenan. A considerable number of players accompanied them from 2nd Kilbride showing the popularity along with the belief and respect that was entailed within both men.
The team started playing in the Old Boys League 2004/05 as Ballynure Young Men. After being top of division 4 until Christmas, they ended up finishing 3rd. Both Billy Hewitt and Stuart McIlroy hit over 20 goals apiece in their first full seasons for the club.
The 05/06 season seen the Ballymena and Provinsial Intermediate League announce that it was to start a Junior Division.
New league and a slight name change saw F.C.Ballynure enter the Ballymena Junior Division. A mid table finish was a good resultand kept the club heading for its original Intermediate football dream.
In the 06/07 season the club took a major step by starting a Reserve side. Again the first team competed well in the Junior division, finishing mid table. the reserves competed in the Old Boys league division 4, finishing 11th. The Reserves highlight was reaching the semi finals of the Between Cup.
The 07/08 season was the toughest the club has had to date. The first team played in Junior 1 and the reserves joined the newly formed Junior2. This meant the club effectively split into two seperate squads as per league rule. The first team, under Raymond Murphy, finished in the top half of the table, and also made a cup final appearance!
The Reserves however were bottom but one by Christmas. Jonathan Watson decided it was time to stand aside and then entered Micheal Leitch. A few new players later the reserves went on to only loose 3 times after christmas, one of which was a quarter final of the cup on goal difference. If the reserves had won, they would have played the Firsts in the semis!
The 08/09 Season was a proud day for the club. The first team entered the Intermediate Division, having secured Parkview for home matches. Micheal Leitch was in charge of the first intermediate match- ironically against Ballynure O.B. in the cup. FCB won 2-1. After a mixed first half of the season Micheal resigned, with Raymond moving up from the reserves and taking over thefirst team managers role again. the firsts finished 11th and the reserves finished 8th. Not a bad season at all!
