Fc Gulls 'first season !'

Managments 2007/2008 conclusion.

Well what a first season !,
I remember way back in June ,July time last year when no one knew each other, there was a different team for every pre-season game and things where fresh and new. Since then the club has grown and grown and that has been all down to the hard work we have all put in on and off the pitch. I would like to think every player who has been apart of our club success this season has enjoyed the ride and wants to be apart of it next season.,
We feel Fc Gulls is now not just a football team but a family, everyone knows each other well, the support we have had this season have been top class and has always managed to turn out in good numbers for every game.

Winning the league.

The league was our main target at the start of the season, We made it clear to you all that 2nd place would be like losing and I think this among a lot of other things was the main reason we where never beaten.
Like I said to everyone at the start of the season , to win a league at any level takes more than being just a good team, it takes consistency , desire to do well and commitment. The sceptre league, other teams and even our own supporters don’t see the effort you lads have put into training sessions throughout the season, all the running, fitness work etc etc.
It was hard at times , raining , snowing, foggy but most weeks we always got a good turn out to training and I believe this is what took us to the next level compared to other teams in our league.
When any team wins a league everyone seems to just remember the big games. An example for us was the time we beat Sunday sport, and drew with Sparta both times and beat seagun. But if I am honest even though they was important games the games I felt that where even more important was the 5v4 battle we had away to dissarrono and getting back to draw 2-2 at promax these results are what in the long run where the difference.
The league table never lies and we won it and stayed unbeaten because we where the best and that is an amazing achievement so you should all be very proud.

League cup.
We wanted to do well in this cup there was not many rounds to get to the final but a good win against seagun rangers and a convincing display against dissarrono got us to our first ever final.
The final was a great experience and the support you all brought over was super. Even though Sparta in sections of the game did well , Over the 90 minutes I felt we well deserved the win.

Colin Tyler Cup.
At the start of the season this was a cup we see as an opportunity to show every other team in the sceptre what we was all about.
The first game against black lion was one I remember well and with us only having 9 men , but still we had the character to get through it. We never got to play Sunday sport in the first round but I was in full confidence we would have beaten them anyway. Then the 2nd round see us drawn against Park Tavern of division 1 , This was one of our best displays all season beating the 5-1. the 3rd round and last 16 see us play southchurch of division 4 and again we over powered them with our ability to win 6-1.
Unfortunately we was not prepared for our trip to big guns Day one as we had the goal keeper missing and so many injuries, if this game would have been a league won it would have been postponed but we couldn’t make that happen and we ended up losing by 6-2 , which is no disgrace at all considering the circumstances we faced.
Next season we will aim to go one step better an reach the final.

Over all this season has been amazing .. You cant ask for much more than to win the league stay unbeaten and win your division cup and reaching the Colin Tyler cup Q/F.

A super effort by all this season lads, We look forward to seeing all of you and your family's and friends at the presentation.

Have a good well earned rest over the summer as pre-season will only be harder than last years . We will be moving up to a much higher league with some quality teams in it so expect the standard to be much harder week in week out next term.

Yours in sport Fc Gulls management.
