ANOTHER EVENTFUL SEASON SEE'S TOLWORTH CLINCH LEAGUE TITLE
As in the previous season, there was alot of optimism for success. Tolworth though, lost their second league game of the season in what was overal, a poor performance, then a few games later lost to their old nemisis Dynamo Molesey, it was becoming a bit of a stop start season. That all changed straight away though as the side then went on an amazing 15 game winning run to take charge at the top of the table. As the later stages of the cups started to come round though it was starting to sink in that we might not win anything at all as we simply couldnt beat Molesey. They knocked us out of the County Cup quarter final for the second year running, then a couple of weeks later they beat us 2-0 in the Challenge Cup semi final. We reached a cup final for the third year in a row, and predictably we faced Dynamo Molesey once again. Unfortunately the heroics of last year could not be repeated and Molesey completed a clean sweep of knockouts over us.
The following week was to be the most important game of the entire season, the whole campaign had come down to a winner takes all match where we again had to play Molesey, this time for the League title. Tolworth got off to a dreadful start as they went 2-0 down within 5 minutes due to a couple of mistakes from our usually dependable keeper. The game though changed dramatically as Tolworth went for the throats and went 4-2 up before half time. Molesey didnt know what had hit them and in the second half they still couldnt deal with Tolworth's two pacey frontmen, Tolworth went on to score 2 more to win the game 6-2 and take the Division 4 title. Well done lads!!
