The last time Forest played Blochairn in the League at home they secured a memorable 2:1 victory and this was used in the prematch team talk to give the lads some inspiration.Six players from that match started this game but the late withdrawl of four certain starters left Forest with only one sub and a last minute replacement goalkeeper.
Pitch conditions were good despite recent poor weather and so it was game on.Unfortunately Forest were 1:0 down as a mis-hit clearance was rammed home from close range after five mins which led to wave after wave of Blochairn attacks resulting in 2nd and 3rd goals before half time.
Some positional changes at half time to shore up the midfield were made and for a short spell Forest looked to have 'stemmed the tide' but in quick succession two major defensive blunders led to 4th and 5th goals and Blochairn were cruising.
After that it was one way traffic with Forest simply unable to prevent Blochairn seemingly scoring at will and only last ditch tackles from Rodger and a couple of saves from Ewan keeping it to nine.
This was a record defeat for Forest in their twenty year history and given the season's results so far, seriously hard to take but take nothing away from Blochairn, this was an absolutely outstanding display of attacking football and given the strength in depth they have they will take some stopping. On this evidence they should be playing at a higher level and giving the rest of us a chance!
