falcons vs brockmoor badgers

Last league fixture today, against a side with 3 games left and chasing for promotion, so they were up for this one, and so it was important that we were, which the lads were made aware of, before the start.the first haif started with the strong wind in our faces,which made out tobe an even tougher task to contain badgers,but contain we did with some great battling stuff,and at this stage i must add a thanks to dan rock who as played in goal for the 2 games due to our normal keeper breaking his finger.On 28 mins badgers had a corner kick , which was wind assisted ,and managed to go into our top corner.However due to all the circumstances we were pleased to get in at h/t at 1/0.Knowing the second half would be different because of the wind.The second half started, and we were right what we thought it was our turn to peg them back and we continued to look for the equaliser, with a great oppurtunity falling to alex jeavens who some how missed his chance to put us level , but credit to him continued to battle on . we continued pushing forward with some good efforts on goal.as the time went by i started to wonder if it was going to be one of therm days , were no matter what we did we could,nt score. On 60mins however a ball was swung into badgers box ,out came there keeper to punch clear, but matt beat him to it with his head, and it looked like that was it we had equalised, but some how they cleared it off there line , just as we started to celibrate.chances were still falling to us as we contiued searching on , and 10 mins later a similar ball was floated into the box,and this time matt made no mistake at the far post with a strong header, at last 1/1.in the final stages it looked like we were going to win it, with webby going through one on one with there keeper, only for the keeper to save with his legs.final score 1/1.
well played thats the end of league fixture for this season,finishing with a good performance, as said before lads if we did,nt have had that blip after xmas we might have got up into div 1 .
m.o.m Alex oakes did a super job as asked ,to man mark there dangerous forward, like in the away game,which he did brilliantly, with some great tackles.9/10.also a mention to lee brad will dan for some good defending aswel.
