Forest Gate has started this new season in much the same way the club finished the last. Win, Win, Win…
This Season
The club managed to hold onto its top players from last year and still has a good blend of experience and youth. Importantly the likes of Irfan, Micky, Keith, Zubair, Umar, Yomi, Soiful (our crazy goalkeeper who can also play on the wing) and Mohammed have all had another season of experience and development and as such the club is expecting bigger things from their young stars. Add to that the experience of Asif Shabir, Farhan Shaukat, Saqib Sarwar, Mohammaed Abdullah and Jamal, it is evident that the club is in a good position to push for honours this season. Forest Gate Football Club has also made some notable additions to the squad with Hassan and Karsh signing for the club.
This season has started well with wins for the club in it’s opening fixtures of the Champions League Cup competition. The club is undefeated in its opening six matches and has qualified for the Quarter-Finals having comfortably finished top of its group
A Huge Loss
Off the pitch the Club has lost a few key personnel, namely the manager Monsur and his assistant Shah and kitman Ullah. Forest Gate FC thanks them for their great efforts of the last few years and there is no doubt they have played a massive part in putting the club in the position it is currently. If not for the genuine hard work the club would probably never have formed. Shah will be pursuing a career in advertisement for Mr Muscle cleaning products and Monsur is currently looking to replace his sheepskin coat before it really starts getting cold. As for Ullah.. well Ullah is still eating way too much and can still get everyone a 10% discount from Dixons. Ullah, you really are a credit.
Managerial Changes & Boardroom Brawls
Monsur & Shah will continue to support the club at board room level and hope to take it to the next level off the pitch. On the pitch Keval Patel has been appointed as Manager of the Club due to Monsur and Shah leaving. He will be assisted by Amir Khan the former Vestry manager who made a potential Championship winning team finish fourth last year. Keval and Amir posses the skills to take the club forward and we look forward to having a successful year with them at the helm.
Aims & Objectives
The Club is looking for a top three finish this year and hopefully a Cup Final appearance. We feel we have the players and the management team to do this and anything less would be a bit of a failure.
The Young Guns..
Forest Gate FC has expectations of several of its stars this season, some of which have been highlighted below…
We expect Keith to continue scoring the goals that can allow the club a top three finish. Keith scored an impressive 25 goals last year and considering he is only 17 years old and has learning difficulties, it really was a remarkable achievement. Keith, Well Done and keep those goals coming, especially as the club has lost its penalty taker of last year to a long term injury or until he is allowed to play again.
