Managed by Stu Buck, the Reserves had a successful pre-season, winning the Steven Williamson Trophy (Stiffy Cup), for the 2nd season in succession. They carried this into the League matches with a 7-1 win over Thorpe Village Reserves and only lost one of their first nine matches. Still winning more than they lost, they had their moments against the eventually promoted teams from the division with a 3-1 win over Aylsham Reserves, a 3-2 win over Bradenham Wanderers Reserves and a 2-2 draw against Holt Reserves.
They finished the season in 4th place, unfortunate as the top 3 only were promoted, with an over record of P24 W14 D3 L7 and goals scored of 76 and against 48.
Players Player of the Year was Matty Barwell and
Managers Player of the Year Lee Merton.
Top scorer was Ollie Bamforth who played in every game during the season
A successful pre season saw the team win the Steven Williamson Trophy (Stiffy Cup), beating Reepham Town A 6-0 in the final. The Reserves entered the Anglian Combination League Div 6 under the manager Shane Vertigan. But as the team started to disintegrate and the team struggled to turn out 11 players the club decided it was time to part company with Shane.
Up stepped James Brownley who agreed to take over the team until a new manager could be found. James kept the team going and even brought in some good young players such George and Jack Abbott. James won all the 3 games he took charge before Stu Buck took over the reins for the remainder of the season.
The lads played some very good football under captain Luke Sheppy, at times and for a young team that was a compliment they should be proud of. They finished 6th in their first season which is fantastic and if the lads stay together they will I am sure push for promotion.
Shane's first game as manager was against Dereham A in the Quarter Final of the Ben Smith Cup. A team in Division 1 of the Crown Fire League. The Final Score was 4-3 to Foulsham a great start to his time at Foulsham.
The Team is below.
Back Row,
Shane Vertigan (Manager) Liam Chapman, Ash Brown, Dave Wright, Ryan Fisher, Gareth Price, Olly Medlar, Jordan Sturman & Kester Wiseman.
Front Row.
Aaron Woodcock, Shaun Beales, Steve Piper, Riccy Mallett, Christopher Scase, James Brownley & Jack Ainsley.
Foulsham have a new manager in Mick Foweather. Both Mick and Dave will hopefully form a successful partnership for the team for the new season.
Jackie entered the Reserves into the LSPL League and were successful in their bid to take part in the virtual league. For being entered they won Lucozade Bottles/carriers, Lucozade products for a year and a new kit.
After a slow start to the season Foulsham were unfortunate to lose their manager Chris Holmes and Captain John Willimott who moved on to Reepham. Luckily the rest of the team stayed to face out the rest of the season. Dave Wright took over the running of the team and Jackie the organisation (Kit, bottles etc)
The change in the team happened against Shipdham the players were 2-0 down and after a tactical talk at half time Foulsham played some of their best football winning the second half 2-0 drawing the game 2-2 and they never looked back.
Playing some of the best football I have seen for a long time they went on a magnificent run being beaten only by the top of the league team Bunwell in the last 15 minutes of the game. They ended the season in 6th position The partnership of Dave Wright and Jackie Price saw the lads score 30 points from their last possible 42 points. Unfortunately after having to wait almost till the new season to play Bawdeswell the game only lasted 20 minutes when a nasty tackle broke both bones in Carl George's leg. We were forced to replay the game which we lost more than just the points.
