Club History
10 Jun 2009

Formed in 1993, Frampton Youth Football Club (FYFC) was developed with the intention of providing football for all the young persons in the community of Frampton and its environs, regardless of ability, S*X, age or race. A joint effort from members of the village, along with neighbouring villages, saw FYFC field its first league side in 1994. Since then, we are delighted to report that FYFC hasn't looked back. With over 20 league titles, 15 cup victories and many tournament wins, FYFC have become a force to be reckoned with in the local youth football scene.
Under the relatively inexperienced guidance of Ian Palmer, along with the backing of the Committee, the Club’s initial vision was clear. He wanted to start the club on the same path as it meant to go on, and that first League team itself won over 7 leagues, 8 cups and 10 tournaments, with 2 of the team’s players reaching professional status in their career, namely Matthew Young and Karl Palmer. Indeed, the first ever FYFC club captain, Steve Jackson, currently coaches the FYFC’s under 13’s team, and over 8 players of FYFC’s first ever league team have played in the Gloucestershire County League or above.
Currently, the Club runs a number of sides, all in the distinctive blue and white FYFC kit, from the relatively new concept of the Under 18’s team through to the Under 7’s Academy run by veteran coach Ian Neville, one of several FA qualified coaches within the club. Children are able to start their love for sport in general, and football in particular, within the Club at 4 years of age! In fact, in excess of 250 children are currently registered to the club, all being given a regular opportunity to play football regardless of ability.
With the key focus on providing fun, as well as football, for all, FYFC has seen many talented young players and managers pass through the club, and there are many perfect examples of a real ‘team’ atmosphere within FYFC. In particular, witness the excellent spirit within the friends and supporters of each team, and not just the youngster’s smiling faces.
From a small group of parents providing football for their children, a local milestone was born. Memories that last a lifetime have been formed. With the continued hard work of the Committee and other influences, FYFC’s history, reputation and vision is still expanding, making tomorrow better for today's children.
Currently, the club are in the process of building a state-of-the-art Clubhouse, with 5 changing rooms, a Coaching Room and Meeting facilities - something the club have never had, from its formation to present day. To date, in excess of £30,000 has been raised from various fund-raising activities organised by the Club, along with donations from local people and businesses. Although the shell of the building is now up – a tangible feature for all children and parents to see – there is still much to be done e.g. electrical wiring, plumbing etc. The total estimated sum to complete the clubhouse is still in excess of £20,000 and the club will continue to endeavour to raise this money as quickly as possible.
Any assistance you could give the club would be genuinely appreciated and gratefully received and would go a long way to ensuring that the club could continue to offer this opportunity to many children in rural Gloucestershire.
On behalf of Frampton Youth Football Club, thank you for taking the opportunity to read this.
