This hour long mini friendly between Freehold and Highgrove was arranged on the night at Central as both teams were training up there on Tuesday night. With no Des in goal John Hammond polished his gloves off to put in a quite super performance between the sticks and Trimpell midfielder and friend of the club Gaz Hellier, who had come down to training, also played as Freehold dominated from start to finish. Goals from RICHARD CHAMBERS, IAN PALWANKAR and PHIL BUSHELL (2) gave Freehold a well deserved victory on the Central AstroTurf as Highgrove were restricted to just two shots on target both of which John "The Cat" Hammond dealt with, with ease. Does this now gives manager Phil food for thought because with both league and cup games coming up, will Des be rested in order to give John a much deserved chance in goal. Seriously though this was no doubt a good work out for both teams with the Highgrove management very complimentary of our performance. Granted Highgrove had nowhere near a full strength team available but for the record neither did Freehold with regulars Derek Davis, Dean Robinson, Stuart Clarkson, Seamus Sharkey, Nick Johns, Phil Clements and Jimmy Watters all unavailable due to work or family commitments.
