The club was set up in 1973 by Danny Hendry and Jim Kane. They won the Fife Cup in their first season and incredibly went on to win the Scottish Cup at U14 level the following year 74/75 at U15's level.
The Club also won the Scottish Cup in 1981 at U18's, then again in 1985 at U15's and lastly with Joe McCafferty in 1996 at U16's level. We also had Alex Wilsons team reach the final in 1980 and 1981 at U13 and U14 ages.
Over the years there have been many Strollers players went on to progress at Senior and Junior Football, we have even coached a few Scottish Internationalists.
Ronnie Hindersley - Manchester City.
Billy MacKay - Rangers
Colin Cameron - Raith Rovers, Hearts, Wolves, Scotland.
Stevie Tosh - Raith, Aberdeen, Gretna and recently played in Europe with Queen of the South.
Chris Templeman - East Fife, Morton, Stirliing, Brechin.
Kevin Byers - Brechin.
In the spring of 2003, John Buchanan and Scott Robertson joined Glenrothes Strollers to look after the youngest kids. The number of players attending grew rapidly, so they divided them into 1993's, 1994's 1995's but organised them together as 'The Young Strollers'.
John took the 1993's (Glenrothes Strollers Colts 93's) Dougie Cooper and Pat Moor joined to work with the 1994's and Scott took the 1995's. Then in 2004 Alex Wallace joined as a coach and Pat moved to the 1993's. By this time they were playing in the CEFSSA 7 a-side league. With so many players attending training, at this 93's age group, they put 2 teams into the league so that more kids could get the experience of playing in a match every week. Also in 2004 they took the team to Ayr to play in the May Day Cup tournament. In 2005/06 the team moved up to the FFDL 11 a-side league. This meant reducing the squad size to 20 players. Some players had to be released. The first season at 11 a-side was hugely succesful with the team winning almost all of it's league fixtures and winning promotion from the second to the first division. In May 2006 the team also returned to Ayr to play in an 11-a-side tournament. The season finished with the team competing in the Skene Cup tournament, which they also won.
In season 2006/07 the team moved up to the 1st division in the FFDL. Unfortunately, many of the players were not good enough for that level and the team had a very difficult season. This was not helped when a couple of the stronger players decided to move elsewhere. Towards the end of 06/07 season Alex Wallace also left and Tam Short joined as the 3rd coach. The team were relegated back to the 2nd division.
In season 2007/08 there was much rebuilding to do. Several other players had left or were not being resigned for the new season. With a couple of other local teams folding there were many boys interested in joining. So the season began with only 7 of the same players who had began the previous year.
This proved to be a very difficult season.
They finished the season 2nd bottom of the 2nd division.
Season 2008/09 started much better. Again with some changes to the squad. For the early part of the season they raced to the top of the l2nd division and stayed there for a while. But went on to lose some important games through the winter. Dropping too many points and dropping down the league.
finishing 5th out of 9 teams, a huge improvement on previous season.
Season 2009/10. The Fife Youth League U17's, was reduced to 1 division of 13 teams. Again we had a mix of results. Playing really well against the stronger teams, and losing games against other teams that we felt we should have won.
No disaster though, we finished 9th out of 13.
This season 2010/11 we will be competing in Fife Youth League U19's. Unfortunately 6 of our stronger players have shown no loyalty to us and decided to go and play their football elsewhere.
There is no shortage of guys wanting to join our team, but with so many new players, it will be more difficult.
Everyone is going to have to work really hard and help each other as much as possible.
