Any first world war veteran watching this final match of the season would be forgiven for thinking they had gone back to The Somme. The thick, wet mud did not make for an ideal playing surface with the ball suddenly stopping in pools of standing water and mud. Panteg opened the scoring with a long ball which beat Govilon goalie Scott Jones in the 15th minute. Two minutes later Ben Bergoyne was brought down in the Panteg area and the penalty was put hard and low into the back of the net by Stuart Norman. The rest of the first half saw Panteg come to grips with the conditions quickly and they scored three more goals to leave the half time score as Panteg 4 Govilon 1.
The second half saw Govilon attacking hard and were rewarded when a shot rebounded off the Panteg post and was leapt on by Ben Bergoyne to put it past the keeper from close range. Panteg had the final say with a hard shot with the wet, muddy ball which slipped through Govilons keepers fingers to leave the final score as Panteg 5 Govilon 2.
