Wooooooooooooooohooooooooooooooooo - Ok now I have got that out of the way I can get on with the write up. Today saw us away at Ferryhill in the last game of the season knowing that victory would bring us the league title. And to be fair we played like champions from the start to the finish. From the off we played some exquisite stuff that led some of the opposing parents to ask if the kids had been training with Barcelona. We forced corner after corner but could not get on the end of some great balls into the box with Nathan Forster varying them from front to back post etc. The home keeper was also in sublime form stopping what a lot of us thought were nailed on goals. I decided to switch Nathan from corner duty to try and utilise his heading ability with Shahban (Shabs) Mohammed taking over. His first corner was not the best but it created enough mayhem in the box that Guilherme (Gee) Baltazar toe poked the ball home for his first goal of the season and fully deserved in my eyes as Gee has been outstanding all season. We did not let up on the pressure and after a few more corners eventually switched back to Nathan swinging them in and instantly it paid off again this time Jack Woodward connecting with a cushioned left foot volley into the net via a slight deflection. Nathan again turned provider after we played some great stuff which eventually found its way out wide to Nathan one on one with the full back. And let me just say there are many left backs in that league are thankful they will never play against Nathan again and quite a few still having nightmares. Anyway Nathan did what he does best by skinning him and swinging a great cross over the keeper for Harrison Olive to head home his 20th goal of the season. And no you did not read that wrong and yes I did say head home. A fantastic achievement for Harrison to reach 20 goals playing as a winger. That goal left us on 99 league goals for the season and I think every player on the field wanted to be the one to score the magic 100th. As it turned out we waited all season for Gee to score one goal let alone another but thats exactly what happened. Gee pulled the ball out of the air with one touch and then went on a run that Lionel Messi would have been proud of, beating all and sundry before calmly slotting the ball past the keeper into the net. Half time 4-0. I made my what is now common 5 substitutions but that did not effect the pattern of the game at all. Tom Robinson was desperate to get on the scoresheet today and after a little pep talk at half time he did just that. Winning the ball back himself he broke through a couple of challenges to leave himself one on one with the keeper. Only one outcome there I am afraid as Tom notched his 30th of the season and a great return for a lone striker. We seemed to lose a little discipline after that and stopped playing football in favour of anybody and everybody shooting from anywhere. We got a scare when a long ball down field caught out our defence but Corey Griffiths swept up behind, sorry miskicked the ball then chased back 50 yards to pull of a fantastic save. This gave them their first opportunity from a corner and what seemed to be an innocuous ball in found Gee there to round off a hat trick into his own goal. To be fair Gee was unlucky as he swung his standing foot at the ball and it ricocheted off his other into the net. Gee made up for it though with some fantastic play between him and Lewis Malham saw them play around 3 one-two's before Lewis floated a shot over the keeper into the far corner with the last kick of the game. Full time 6-1 with Gee fully deserving the man of the match award. After the lads showing great respect towards Ferryhill by not celebrating instantly at the final whistle we shook hands like gentlemen and thanks to Ferryhill who gave the boys a deserved round of applause. We then got into a huddle and thats when the celebrations began. So Ben Dickinson, Bradley Morrison, Corey Griffiths, Declan Fielding, Flynn Kelsey, Guilherme Baltazar, Harrison Olive, Jack Gardner, Jack Woodward, Lewis Malham, Liam Beddow, Louis Hall, Luke Harvey, Matthew Neill, Nathan Forster, Noah Corbett, Shahban Mohammed and Tom Robinson thank you for a wonderful season and making me the proudest manager around today. And yes the BBQ will be on next week.
