The second game of the “tour” of Nottingham saw Great Moor pitted againstArnoldtown.
This time the game was played with 3 officials so after one game Johnny Cash (see previous match report) sorry Brian Fisher was unemployed in his role of linesman much to the disappointment of the parents…………..of the opposition
After checking the fitness of the infamous Tesco Four (they know who they are), it was decided that we would go 4-5-1 to start with
2 minutes and Arnold have the ball in the back of the net only to see it disallowed for offside (it would have stood had I done the line)
14 minutes and a free kick toArnold on the edge of the box is tipped over the bar by Dan Fisher. The resulting corner is also tipped over by Dan
26 minutes and some nice one touch football fromArnold ends with a shot which Dan saves with his feet and Paddy puts out for a corner
31 minutes and a free kick to Great Moor is taken by TJ and is sent up and over the wall and saved in the bottom corner by theArnold keeper
Half Time
Not really much to write home about or even report on this half as each team felt the other out and by doing so turned it more into a midfield knock about
46 minutes and a ball played down the middle allows the striker to lift the ball up and over the advancing Dan Fisher in the Great Moor goal 1-0 Arnold
55 minutes and Andy Renshaw is brought down on the edge of the area with the resulting free kick from Dan Kelly being saved by the Arnold keeper
59 minutes and CJ wriggles free of his marker and reaches the by line, where he sends over a high cross for Billy Leach to head over. With hindsight CJ should have sent it in low.
65 minutes and a header by Andrew Renshaw put CJ in the clear and with all the time in the world, he fires it wide of the mark when it was easier to score
67 minutes and CJ passes it to Jack Charnock who mis hits it with such luck it falls to Andy Renshaw who shoots and sees his shot saved by the keeper
70 minutes and CJ again reaches the line and again Billy heads it just past the upright
73 minutes and this time its Billy who sends the ball across the facer of the goal and there is no one to tap it home Linekar style fro 2 yards out………there is a goal coming we can feel it
76 minutes and a ball is played out from the back by Arnold and collected by the Arnold striker who was borderline offside/on side but as the whistle didn’t go he made sure by slotting it home past a stranded Dan Fisher in the Great Moor Net 2-0 Arnold……………told you there was a goal coming
86 minutes and a Dan Kelly free kick is met at the back post by a volley from Dan Whitworth (wearing one of Scotts socks as he left his in the cabin) that hits Josh Kerrigan on its way in to the back of the net 2-1 Arnold
87 minutes and having claimed the goal, he collects the ball from a corner and decides it’s Kezza Time as he goes on one of his mazy runs towards goal……….this one ends with the keeper saving it
88 minutes and following the keepers long kick Arnold hit the post with a long range effort
89 minutes and some neat interplay between CJ and Andy Renshaw ends with the ball being put into the back of the Arnold net by CJ 2-2
90 minutes and a superb save by the Arnold keeper prevented us from winning the match.
Full Time
Overall I think it was a fair result between two good teams, Arnold having more possesion but we created some good chances
We would like to thank out hosts not only for the game but for their hospitality as well, and would look forward to them coming down to our ground for a pre season friendly.
Well done to both teams
