The lights went out at the Wellesley for the second game running, this time however there were only four minutes left to go. Ross Catchpole opened the scoring against a much improved Wroxham team firing a shot past ex Bloaters keeper Chris Bird in the fifth minute. Wroxham scored on the half hour after a free kick wasn-t cleared and Jamie Pedrosa-Minors equalised for the visitors. Yarmouth had the lions share of possession but couldn-t turn their dominance into goals. As in recent games it was time for the captain and leading scorer, Lee Roscoe, to step forward and fire the Bloaters into the lead. A lot of credit goes to Joshua Trett after a great run down the left, he crossed for Roscoe to control and fire the ball into the roof of the net. Yarmouth thought they-d scored a third after a corner was headed powerfully goal-wards by Ross Catchpole, Adam Blanch flicked on and from point blank range, Bird tipped the ball onto and over the bar. With four minutes to go the Wellesley was plunged into darkness and despite the groundsman-s attempts to get the lights up and running the decision was made some 10 minutes later to abandon the game. The Wroxham website leads you to believe they-d scored an equaliser. They didn-t. The ball was well in the Wroxham half when the lights went off and when everyone had stopped and started to make their way off the pitch a couple of Wroxham lads played on. Eventually, they found the goal and put the ball in it. Looked offside to me and perhaps was the only way they were going to get an equaliser!
