DYNAMO SHOW THEIR METTLE TO REACH SEMIS

Greenhills Dynamo are through to the Semi-Final of the League Cup after a tempestuous tie with old foes Shawbridge in Blantyre on Saturday to set up a mouthwaterting tie with SCYP.

And despite running out 4-0 winners Dynamo were left seething after key midfielder Stephen Cullie was left needing stitches following an alleged elbowing inceident and will no doubt be sidelined for several weeks.

The first half was a tight affair and ended in stalemate at half time with both teams squandering chances. On the 30 minute maek Stephen Cullie was taken out by an elbow to the head by Shaws Steven Thomson requiring a visit to Hairymyres Hospital. Somehow he managed to stay on the pitch and didnt even get a yellow card leaving Dynamo livid.

Greenhills started the second half the better of the teams and took the lead on 55 mins when Barry Devine beat three players before hitting a sweet right foot to the bottom right of the goal. Greenhills continued to dominate and on 5 minutes later they won a corner, which was delivered by Davie Atha and missed by everyone. The returning Garry O'Hanlon collected it at the back post and placed it in to make it 2-0. Dynamo then turned the screw on the visitors when Captain John Paul Hughes played a ball to O'Hanlon on the half way line. The big striker took two touches and struck it from just inside the Shawbridge half to lob the keeper to make it 3-0

With 5 minutes remaining, the Shawbridge keeper played a pass to their right back and Skipper Hughes nipped in to win the ball from him and coolly chipped the on coming keeper to make it 4-0.

Dynamo received a welcome boost with the news that fellow title contenders lost away to Clydebank United on League business on Saturday. The East Kilbride side are at home to Victoria Park this weekend looking to take three more valuable points in the League.
