Greatest football achievement: Not sure really…..possibly first senior appearance for Bognor? Fortunate enough to have won a lot of trophies over the years and played in some great sides and great games at all levels. Enjoyed scoring a hat-trick against Pompey Youth for the Arun & Chichester rep side when we won 3-1 in my days as a forward!
Describes himself as………
Nowadays an attacking defensive player - must have struck a chord with Chappie! I like to get forward when I can, and will hopefully pop up with a goal at some stage in the season!
Started with Southdown Utd at youth football, before my old man set up Goring Youth where I played until aged 14. Had a couple of trial games with Albion youth but left Goring for Bognor Regis Town FC under 18's and then was lucky enough to do a years apprenticeship with them as the first non-league side to have full time apprentices. Great times, great laugh and thoroughly enjoyed it. Played with Simon Rodger after he was released by Albion for being too small, before he was snapped up by Crystal Palace where he played for years! Played in the reserves in the Hampshire league as a centre midfielder and won the league and cup and made a couple of first team appearances at centre half before leaving to join Worthing FC. Big mistake - I didn't realise a fresh faced Hughesy and an already leathery faced Hanksy would be there!!! Had a couple of seasons there before going to Lewes for a season and a half and then had stints at Lancing, Littlehampton and Worthing Utd before being lured to L&E/NU/Warren Sports, where to be fair, I thought I might finish my career…..but the chance of playing with Hughesy and Hanksy again almost 20 years on from the first time was too good to miss, together with being re-united with the likes of Jutty and continuing to play with other great mates from seasons past. It all looks like adding to an enjoyable season ahead!
