Gwinear Churchtown Football Club was founded in 1993 by Roland Thomas, Paul Ash and the late Chris 'Kenny' Daniels with the sole aim of giving the young people of the community something to keep them occupied each week.
In order for the fooball club to work, it had to enlist help from various areas around the community. Many months of hard work took place, including taking apart a cornish hedge and rebuilding it, transforming a farmers field in to a football pitch and renovating out buildings in to changing rooms. All done so the players would have somewhere to play their home matches. Many years on and there are still some current players who had a hand in getting the club up and running!
The eventual outcome was that the club was entered in to the Mining League Division Three where it would start its journey in to junior football.
Several years later and the club is still a mens junior football team who now play in the Mining League Divsion One, having enjoyed considerable success for a very small village team.
This season brings a change in the management of the team, as now the ground work has been done off the field, the club look to get back to winning ways on it. With transfer targets identified and some hard work being put in over the coming months, the feeling at the club is that it can now concentrate on getting the right players signed for the club.

As we approach the end of the season some of us are still waiting to score our 1st goal but who scored the best goal this season?
JTs vrs TMS at home when a flowing passing move ended with Ollie scooping it over the last defender and JT smashing a missile volley to put us 4 3 up
Brett Murton vrs Halsetown the ball was worked from right to left before Brett unleashed his screamer that surprised everyone.
Barnaby Daggers vrs Halsetown, 2nd of his hat trick Andy threw him the ball in his own half and with his team mates screaming run forest run Barney half juggled half dribbled the ball the length of the pitch before letting rip.
Mark Halliday vrs TMS a free kick of such power it nearly scalped me and broke the back of the net.
Cameron Irish vrs Heamore with 15 goals scored that afternoon Cams was the pick of the bunch cutting in from the right he let fly with an absolute beauty.
