The New Breed!!!

Halesowen Town Colts will be welcoming the new Under 7's and Under 8's at the start of the 2007/08 season, into the Colts ranks. The sides came about through the Halesowen Town Colts development centre that was set up by Chairman Stuart How in September 2006. The development centre was conducted by Mark Smith and Andre Whyte and it was a massive success.
Two sides have been formed from this scheme and it's fantastic news for the colts.
The Under 7's will be managed by the duo of Dean Barrett and James, Whilst the Under 8's will be jointly run by Jordan Blount and Tom Gibson.

Yeltz news caught up with the master class that is Stuart How, manager of HTC U'11s and we wanted to know the inside track on How and his side.

The season is fast approaching and the under 11's are up and going. The squad has been chosen and the equipment is all ready, but is Stuart How?

"Cause I am! The excitement of a new season at the helm is a great feeling and I can't wait to get that first game under way. I just hope that all the hard work by everybody at the club has paid off."

How have your pre-season preparations gone?

"I feel that all that was planned has be achieved. The lads have worked hard in training over the past five weeeks and the games played have allowed myself to review a few matters that I wanted to clear up. All the sessions have been designed to challenge the lads and they have responded with the correct attitude, which is fantastic."

I see that you have bought in some new face, including a new coach, how have they settled in?

"The new lads have been welcomed with open arms and have slotted in tremendously well. The quality of all the lads has risen during training, because of the high standard of competition for all positions. It's a problem for myself, but a good one all the same.
Nick Hayes has been added to the setup to assist myself with the football side of the club. Nick has been a target of mine for several month and finally I got my man. He spent three season at Netherton Colts and has a great understanding of the game. He will be a great addition to the management team."

One last question, How's your new development program going?

"Superb. We've had good numbers for the past four weeks and I'm very impressed with the standard of players. The coaches Mark Smith and Andre Whyte have done a great job and have work well with the kids. We all hope that the development scheme will be a big success."
