Hapton Football Club was founded in 1984. The team was formed at a meeting of interested players in the Hapton Inn pub, and indeed started life as Hapton Inn FC.
The club joined the Burnley & District Football League that year and have stayed with that League to this day. In the first five years of the club, they played on their true 'home pitch' the Hapton Recreation Ground or 'The Rec'. As the team rose through the divisions (back in the Eighties there were four divisions) to reach the top division in 1988, the pitch was deemed unfit for that standard, and ever since have played home games at the Fennyfold, Padiham.
