Royals FC 2 v 1 Bengeo Trinity
2 second half goals from striker Steve Gregory cancelled out a first half strike by Bengeo.
A hard fought game, fiercely contested by both sides saw Royals victorious in their first ever Cup final in the Hertford League. The commitment and application of the Royals players in the second half was exemplary and certainly proves what has been said all season- A great squad of players operating as an excellent team unit.
The one sad part of the evening was a serious injury to Steve Payne after 15 mins, which resulted in the Bengeo player being booked. We all wish Steve a speedy recovery.
John Bliss came on to the right side of midfield and played his part in the winning goal, with what can only be called, "One of the not so powerful crosses/shots in the world"
The most important element being that John was in position and made it happen.
Several players are worthy of note for their performance but, it would be wrong to single out individuals, suffice to say they were all magnificent on an absolutely tremendous evening. |
