MIDDLESEX FA LEAGUE – ROUND TWO

The Harrow Stones Stars FC (Harrow MENCAP Football Club supported by Wealdstone FC) continued their winning ways with a tremendous set of results in the Second Round of Matches in the Middlesex FA Pan-Disability League on Sunday 6th November 2011 with a ‘Clean Sweep’ of FOUR WINS putting them in TOP position.

First up for the Stars were Hounslow Strikers who were despatched in impressive fashion as the Stars set about their business. Rueben PARKINSON was imperious in defensive midfield thwarting Hounslow & creating chances for his team-mates and soon he found Jonathon WILDING who linked with Goal Scoring Maestro Sam BONNAR for BONNAR to open his Account for the day with a scorching shot.

Stars were soon up 2 – 0 as PARKINSON put WILDING in space for him to skilfully place the ball in the corner of the Net.

Hounslow responded with some attacks of their own but Martin ‘Safe Hands’ MANN was rarely troubled as the Stars defence held firm with Michael REEVES, John Paul AMIDJAH and Ash BAJAJ blocking their way. Soon the Stars added to their lead with Alan DORR latching onto a bouncing Ball to thump it passed the Hounslow Keeper into the Goal before BONNAR added his Second & the Stars Fourth with a thunderous low shot which flew in for a 4 – 0 WIN.

Next for the Stars was another ‘new’ opposition in the form of Whetstone Wanderers who were Unbeaten after the First Round of Games and came into this match full of confidence.

Again the Stars started with intent and it wasn’t long before BONNAR crashed home another Goal to give the Stars the lead & stunning Whetstone. This was swiftly followed by a Second after BONNAR became ‘provider’ broke free before sliding the pass to PARKINSON for him to drill his shot into the Goal.

Whetstone launched a series of attacks but the imperious MANN defended his Goal brilliantly aided by WILDING, AMIDJAH and Scott POWLING, with DORR dominating midfield with PARKINSON. After repelling the Whetstone efforts the Stars attacked once more with WILDING & James STANHOPE combining before feeding BONNAR who claimed his Second Goal of the match for a 3 0 lead.

STANHOPE then had the last word with a thunderbolt from out wide which almost burst the Net for ANOTHER 4 0- 0 WIN.

The Stars were then due to play West London Community College but they had failed to turn up and so the Stars were awarded the WIN & the Points with a ‘Walkover’. This gave the Stars the opportunity for a couple of ‘Friendly’ matches before their last game of the day.

Kevin SWEENEY took over the Goalkeeping duties for these matches against North West Wanderers and Whetstone Wanderers with a defence including REEVES, POWLING and Jason MANN whilst BAJAJ took over the midfield responsibilities. Nikesh KARSAN took up position on the Ewing and Rakesh MEHTA held the striking role.

These were two hard-fought encounters with very little between the Stars & their opposition and they were eventually both decided by late Goals after the Stones had put up a tremendous fight in both contests. Jason MANN impressed in defence & midfield as did BAJAJ who chased back & forth all over the pitch. REEVES & POWLING were strong in defence and KARSAN made good breaks on the wing feeding MEHTA who went close to scoring on several occasions.

These games were very useful for the Squad and everyone made a positive contribution whilst giving some others in the Squad a rest before the final game of the day against Feltham Bees.

This game started well for the Stars as they soon got into their stride with PARKINSON dominating the midfield. He linked with BONNAR as they pounded the Bees Goal before PARKIBSON found DORR unmarked and passé for DORR to hammer home the first Goal.

This was followed by yet another Goal from BONNAR as quick thinking by Keeper Martin MANN got the Ball to him and he deftly drilled the Ball into the corner beating the impressive Bees Keeper.

The Bees regrouped and laid siege to the Stars Goal but WILDING & AMIDJAH drove them back time & again, assisted by STANHOPE.

Eventually however the Bees managed what no-one else had all day and beat MANN to claim their first Goal reducing the lead to 2 – 1.

This stung the Stars into action again as they pounded the Bees Goal and only the excellence of their Keeper prevented a much heavier defeat. The constant pressure was bound to bring a Goal and sure enough it was ‘Hot Shot’ BONNAR registering his Sixth Goal of the day to increase the Stars lead to 3 – 1 as an effort from STANHOPE struck the post and BONNAR pounced on the rebound before the defence to slam the ball home.

The majestic PARKINSON wrapped up the game after being tripped as he brought the Ball out of defence. He took the resulting Free Kick himself striking sweetly to drive the ball into the far corner for another WIN for the Stars by 4 – 1.

THIS WAS A TREMENDOUS EFFORT BY THE WHOLE SQUAD WITH EVERYONE PLAYING THEIR PART AND CONTRIBUTING TO THE STONE STARS SUCCESS SO FAR

CONGRATULATIONS TO YOU ALL!

These results saw the Stones Stars go TWO POINTS Clear at the TOP of the Middlesex FA Pan-Disability League Table – this means we will be the League LEADERS at the end of 2011 and the beginning of 2012 as the next Round of Matches takes place in February 2012
