Under 11's played out a nine goal thriller against Merseyside district team - Maghull - and were really unfortunate to lose out 5-4. Kaj Anderson had to pull off a fantastic save after just ten seconds and after Liam Pritchard had a goal ruled out for offside, Vinny Steels (captain for the day) ran from the half way line to put Hartlepool ahead. Steels then shot wide before Harrison Wright cleared off the line. Maghull scored two quick goals before Josh Lester twice set up Anthony Stokle for his double. Maghull made it 3-3 just on half time.
The second half way played in heavy rain which made the pitch a bit of a mudbath, but the entertainment continued. Maghull went ahead before Luke Jones slotted home a penalty. With just five minutes to go the scousers got the winner despite appeals for offside, but Hartlepool players were spoken to about backchatting.
A belter of a game and the team continue to improve. Last game tomorrow is against Hull, who have won both their games 2-0 and 4-0. It has been switched to Dyke House, with kick off at 10.15am.
