What was a season of change and inconsistant results ended on a high note with welfare lifting only the second trophey in there history beating Mulgrave Athletic 3-2 to lift the Barry Hogan First Division cup.
The season started slowly with a change in management, chris murray taking over after a terrible loss to Corporation Welfare but things gradually picked up with a mixture of new signings and people returning from injury strengthening the squad.
Although Welfare finished with a cup you still feel with the players available the league title should have been within there grasp but sadly welfare as usual rarely get the same team out two weeks in a row and although they beat all the top sides they also dropped points to the bottom teams.
New signing Craig Adair proved the find of the season banging in lots of goals and he was voted players player of the year by the rest of the team as well as finishing top goalscorer.
Stephen Cann finished the season in inspired form finishing with a man of the match display in the cup final giving him the player of the year award based on the average mark per gameon the website.
The highlight of the season was the cup final victory were credit goes to all the lads involved and the low point was the devastating l2-4 loss to corporation early in the season followed by the loss to travellers just after christmas just when it looked like welfare may mount a title challenge.
Hopes are high for the forthcoming season as on our day we are a match for anyone but we need to ensure we have a full team week in week out.
