FIRST CUP FINAL |
Around 1998 Welfare got to there first cup final losing after extra time to a strong supporters team at Victoria Park 1-0. This was a particullary strong first division that year and we missed out on promotion to very good Supporters and Throston teams. In some peoples opinion this was one of the strongest teams welfare have had boasting some fine young players with a mix of experience. Players included Kev Winspear, Col Mason, Carl Richardson, Stu Winwood, Paul Cowley, Dave Johnson, Dave Willingham, Chris Murray, Jamie Fleming, Roy Allen, Paul Timlinson, Graham Stafford and Kev Alsop

FIRST DIVISION CUP WINNERS SEASON 04/05 |
After been relegated from the premier division the year before welfare were expected to bounce straight back up but a fixture pile up at the end of the season saw them miss out on the top two spots. We did however win our first piece of silverware beating St Francis to win the First Division cup. The team that night was John O neil, Neil Readman, Paul Lindsey, Carl Richardson, Chris Andrews, Kenny Weighill, Chris Murray, Brendan Deer, Lee Stoddart, Jamie Fleming, Craig Butterfield, Graham Coates, Paul Robinson

FIRST SEASON |
Welfares first season in the league was a succsesful one. We spent the majority of the season in the top two with some memorable results the highlight being an amazing 5-5 draw with then premier league high flyers Woodcutter in the dowson cup. Injuries took there toll on a small squad and we needed a win in the last game of the season to gain promotion, unfortunately a Dave Churchill penealty miss in the last minute meant the final game ended 2-2 and as we were known then Clavering Park missed out on promotion. We did however end up in a play off which led us to promotion to division 1 in our first season.
Some of the players from the first season included top goalscorer carl richardson player of the year paul cowley and managers player of year paul martindale. The rest of the squad included chris murray, andy blackett , nick appleyard, big col mason, graham stafford, dave churchill, dave willingham, ste and reg mulverhill paul timlinson and graham coverdale
