Hepworth Entertained Brayton Belles in their first game in nearly a month following a long period of postponed matches due to bad weather. This has often been a close fixture for the Hepworth team and the final scoreline would suggest this but it could have been so different had Hepworth not have been guilty of squandering chance after chance in front of goal.
Hepworth took the game to their opponents from the kickoff and it was all one way traffic as it was for much of the first half. Following early pressure Kirsty McCluskey sent a corner over for Grace Liptrott to head home in the 13th minute, how they never added to this before half time is a mystery as several players were guilty of wasting chances after chance. As the first half came to an end Hepworth began to get frustrated at not being able to extend their lead. Jolene Forrest who came off the bench early on for the ill Jade England soon got involved after the restart and her superb cross was drilled home by Abi Iggleden to put Hepworth 2 nil up. Twelve minutes later Grace Liptrott grabbed her second and Hepworths 3rd with a fantastic solo effort. What little ressistance Brayton did have was now wilting as Hepworth pushed forward looking for goals but they didnt come as their finishing was not of the usual standard. Any threat from Brayton was soon snuffed out by a resiliant Hepworth defence who stuck to their task. The scoring was compleated 15 minutes from the end when Jo Atkinson was gifted a goal by the stan in Brayton keeper who kicked the ball straight to her unmarked at the edge of the box and atkinson promptly slotted home Hepworths 4th goal. Grace Liptrott was voted player of the match by her team mates.
