Worcester City Women 3 - 1 Phoenix Ladies

Phoenix looked to be getting off to a dream start to the season when Emily Gilbert fired them into an early lead with a superb 25 yard drive. But Phoenix failed to capitalize on Worcester-s nervous start and allowed the home side back into the game. Worcester were soon back on level terms when a defensive mix up allowed the home forward to lob into an empty net. Worcester were now out playing Phoenix on all fronts and took the lead on 30 minutes,Phoenix were looking jaded and were unable to raise their game to match a much busier and well organised Worcester side. After the break Worcester added a third and Phoenix failed to respond with any conviction allowing the the home side to close out the game with ease and to take a comfortable three points. Phoenix will need to look at their conviction and attitude if they are to mount a challenge this season.
