The Spitfires returned after a 2 week break to take the points in a very competative tie with Westella & Willerby.
Hessle looked very comfortable with the slope and the wind in the 1st period, playing the bulk of the game in the Ella half and probably should have gone into the break with more than the 1-0 advantage they did. The goal, a cool and composed strike from Cameron just inside the box.
Sporting went to a back 4 early in the 2nd, hoping to try and play the ball out rather than go long against the conditions and on the whole it worked. Hessle's high back line made it difficult for the home side and the Spitfires doubled their lead through Albie after some neat passing. Sporting went close on a few more occasions before James got a deserved goal to make it 3-0.
Callum was given motm for a fine performance on the right of defence, a defence that was breached in the final few minutes when they failed to deal with a free kick as Westella got 1 back.
With good displays all over the pitch this was a fine day for the Spitfires putting to bed a couple of results from pre- season against the same opposition that didn't go their way. Westella are a difficult side to break down and today showed that it's still possible to play the Spitfires way even against the elements and solid opponents. Well done boys!!!
