Season 10/11
20 Jun 2011

Season 2010/11 – Sammy and Oz lead the lads to Silverware.

It was only a matter of time and this season has proved to be it, with HFC winning the league 5 title and the Chatsworth Cup.

We won 25 games out of 27 this season, drawing against Poolsbrook on two occasions.

The league final stats were:
P: 22, W 20, D 2, L 0, F 107, A 26, GD +81, Pts 62

The club record of 21 goals in a season (Held by Jason Foster) was smashed by two people, Nathan Whitehead and Keano but it was Nathan with 33 goals who took the accolade of top goal scorer with Keano one behind in a fantastic first season for the youngster.

Keano took both awards home at the presentation evening, winning the Managers Player of the Year and also the Players Player of the Year.

With the league title wrapped up by March HFC went looking for more silverware and the Chatsworth Cup in particular. In an evenly contested game, HFC were eventually Winners after Jermoe Wilks scored the winning goal in the 2 v 1 win.

The bad lads chart was quite even this year with last year’s winner Jamie Simpson in contention with 3 yellows along with Jason Foster but Captain Andrew Milburn takes it home with 2 yellows and 1 red.

It was Andrew Milburn who was the only player in the squad that didn’t find the net after Goal Keeper Bruno smashed home a penalty against Devonshire. Bruno had a fantastic season himself only conceding 26 goals in the league – 10 clean sheets.

Special thanks go to Mandy, Martin Bruno and the Highfield Pub.

Season 09/10
13 Jul 2009

Highfield have finished 4th for the 09/10 season - Division 5.

Highfield made a cracking start to the season, Winning 5 and drawing one of the first 6 games. The early season form put HFC at the top of the table but Harleys inflicted our first defeat of the season on the 18th October.

North Star did the double over HFC but in-between the 2 defeats to North Star HFC went on a 7 game winning run. A massive 21 point out of 21 saw Sammy being given the Manager of the Month award.

A disappointing end to the season ended with a defeat to Industry and then a defeat in the Ace Sports Chatsworth Cup Semi Final to Hollingwood.

The season has been one of many great performances individually and collectively.

Jason Foster has a club record with 21 goals for the season and Nathan Whitehead hit 14 in 19 starts.

Jamie Simpson leads the bad boy charts with 3 yellows and 2 reds and Danny Ragan finishes with the most man of the match performances with 5.

Danny Ragan won the Managers Player of the year and also the Players Player of the Year.

Glyn Foster steps down as Secretary and we thank him for all his hard work over the years. Glyn is a top man who will be missed by all at the club.

Season 08/09
01 Sep 2008

Its all change again as we will be kicking off the 2008/2009 season with a new management team at the helm.

Andy Dudley who was the manager for the previous two seasons steps down with Sammy taking his place and Glyn Foster the new club secretary.

All the lads are very grateful to Andy and his unique style of management as without Andy stepping forward we would not have been able to continue.

Its also back to Badger Park!

We finished the league in 3rd place with 37 points, 5 points behind winners Brampton Manor and 3 points behind 2nd place -Industry.

On the whole it was another big step forward with more lessons being learnt along the way. The club is secure financially, has 4 different kits and is run soundly thanks to Glyn Foster.

On the pitch, HFC were receiving some great write-ups in the local press and some of the football wouldn’t have been out of place in league 1. Once more the cup run came and went in a flash - The magic of the cup!

HFC were plagued by injuries at the start of the season and some were never to return to full fitness.

Lee Norris signed after a month of the season and went on to be top scorer this season with 16 goals in 16 starts. A fantastic record.

Andy Milburn won the players player of the year with some fantastic performances and captained the club very well that year.

Jason Foster who is 16 had is first year in men’s football and was a shining light in dull times. Jason won the managers player of the year, again after some fantastic performances and also chipping in with 7 goals.

Season 07/08
01 Sep 2008

The start of the season saw plenty of new faces and a new home.

It was bye to Badger Park and hello to Sheepbridge Club.

The season saw another new kit with pub regular Steve Ingram sponsoring us for the season.

Pre-season started with a bang as new signings Danny, Jamie, David and Brett amongst others caused havoc for defences and the season started with a 4 v 4 draw but more was to come from the team.

Dudley had his troops in prime shape for the season and some lovely attacking football was played.

The season wasn’t without incident but that’s another story, so that will be left to the gossips!

Highfield finished the season in third place 5 points behind eventual winners Hasland Wanderers, and 2 points behind second place Calow.

Out of the 20 games, Highfield won 13, drew 2 and lost 5 scoring 54 goals in the process.

David Copeland was rewarded for his outstanding goal tally of 14 goals from midfield with the players player of the year and Daniel Markham won an award for the 2nd season running by scooping the Managers player of the year.

In the begining.....
02 Sep 2008

Highfield Football Club was formed in the summer of 2006.

We managed to get into the Chesterfield & District Sunday League Division 8, playing our home games on Badger Park.

Managed by Andy Dudley, HFC had a very good pre-season but when the season started it was a different matter.

Wins did come but they were few and far between and 11 fit players at time also appeared to be a problem due to suspensions and injuries.

The final game of the season came quickly and we found ourselves needing to beat Saltergate club to stay up, and that we did. A 2 v 1 win kept us up but more importantly lessons had been learnt right from the club secretary to the playing field.

A lot of positives did come out of the season, as four players had never even played 11 a side before.

Young lads had come through the ranks with 16-year-old Nathan Whitehead finishing top scorer in his first season.

David Church whose attitude was exemplary all season was rewarded with the Managers Player of the Year with Craig Foster and Paul Newsome finishing joint 2nd and Daniel Markham won players player of the year after having a good season.

Thanks went to Chris at Vally Reclamation http://www.valleyreclamation.co.uk/ who put his money into an unknow club and sponsored us for the season.
