Holbrook MW Reserves return to League action
Holbrook MW Reserves return to League form in fine style with a 3-1 victory over Rainworth MW Reserves.
Two goals in the first half from a Chris Sadler Penalty and the one again free scoring Gav Christie brought Holbrook MW in at Half-time two goals to the good.
The pitch was still extremely hard from the mornings heavy frost and got worse in the second half as the weather again turn to freezing conditions, credit to both sides for continuing to try and play nice football. Rainworth got back in the game mid way through the second half when after good football down the left the ball was squared to the edge of the box and with noone closing the ball, an unstoppable shot was lashed into the top corner. 2-1. When 10 minutes to go Holbrook closed the game out. Gav Christie held the ball up on the halfway line and then flicked it into the path of James Ozmen who ran to the half the length of the pitch before expertly pulling back the ball to a choice of awaiting Holbrook Midfield players on the edge of the box, Chris Sadler took charge and nicely finished an excellent Holbrook move. 3-1.
It was nice to see Holbrook Players getting some minutes under ther belt after a long layoff and Holbrook MW also gave a debut to Luke Dabell. Next week it looks like Holbrook MW Reserves are cup action away at Allenton Utd in the Derbyshire Divisional Cup South, but we are still awaiting confirmation on that.
