Dear Wolves Parents
It is that time in the season when bad weather can play havoc with training:( Negotiations have been going on and Belmont School have very kindly allowed us to have the use of their indoor facilities on Saturday mornings, should the weather be bad:) This arrangement is for Saturday training only and not mid week training which may still have to be cancelled in the case of bad weather.
Please take the time to read on as this will tell you what the procedure will be.
Any decision to cancel training at Westcott will either be taken on Friday afternoon (if it is obvious the pitches will be unplayable such as in the case of heavy snow for example) or early on Saturday morning. The ground is inspected at around 7.30am on Saturday morning and an email will then be sent out advising all parents if training is cancelled.
The advise is to keep an eye on your email or check the website (www.clubwebsite.co.uk/holmburyandwestcottwolves) if it looks like training may be cancelled. If you do not receive an email then please assume training will go ahead as normal at Westcott.
If you are due to play a match (whether home or away) then please wait for advise from your coach.
There is a full list of coach contact details on the website under the Committee Members Section.
If training at Westcott does have to be cancelled due to hard frost or waterlogged pitches, then the following alternative will come into place and you should make your way to Belmont School.
Wet Weather Training at Belmont School
Please park in the schools main car park.
Training will take place in the schools main Sports Hall, opposite the main car park.
Please note that TRAINERS ONLY may be used in the Sports Hall. No football boots.
There is a viewing gallery for parents. No access to other parts of the school is allowed.
Directions to Belmont can be found at:- http://www.belmont-school.org/how%20to%find%20us.pdf

Attention all coaches,
The sun was out and it was great to see a number of coaches attend the recent COACH THE COACHES session run by Nick Torpey our club PRO COACH.
I think you'll agree this was really useful and gave us some key development points and drills to use.
This also helps to ensure that all Wolves teams are being coached in a consistent way which will undoubtedly benefit their development.
The main points Nick advocates include:
Make sure each player gets as many touches of the ball as possible
More focus on 'basic' skills rather than throwing them into a big game. (smaller (3v3 / 4v4 games of more benefit)
Encouragement
In addition we talked about a consistent football language so all the players learn simple, quick instructions. These include:
OPEN - Let the ball run across body onto the Back Foot. - helps to keep ball moving forward and not back into trouble
BACK FOOT - As above (i.e let the ball go on to the back foot (could be either foot)
DRIVE - Encouragement to drive with the ball into the open space (space in front)
SQUEEZE - Pushing players up on to opposition to close them down
JACKS - Code used between players to leave the ball
TURN - Space behind you to turn into
SET - Lay ball off to player calling
Nick will join us regularly on Saturday mornings (approx every other Saturday) so I have allocated time to spend a session with each year group and then also be around for questions/advice from all. Preliminary timetable is:
SAT 2nd Oct U7's
SAT 16th Oct U8's
SAT 30th Oct U9's
SAT 13th Nov U10's
then work back though again? however let me know if above clashes with games etc..
Also for those who didn't make it - we can organise another Coach the Coaches session at some point plus make sure you all have copies of Nicks manual.
Hopefully with Nicks professional influence (plus taking FA level 1 and Youth specific training modules) we should continue to grow as a club, teaching the children the 'grass roots' so they become better, well rounded players going forward.
Many thanks
Chris Phillips

Coaches
If you have an away teams visiting Westcott, their parents should be parking in the Bury Hill Fisheries car park and not at Stable Meadow. I have attached details below of how to walk from the Bury Hill Fisheries back to the football pitches at Westcott. I would be grateful if you could forward this to any visiting coaches during the season and ask them to pass it on to their parents.
HOLMBURY & WESTCOTT WOLVES
DIRECTIONS TO BURY HILL FISHERIES CAR PARK
It should take you about 5 minutes to walk from the Bury Hill Fisheries car park to the football pitches.
1) The Bury Hill Fisheries car park is situated on the A25. From the Westcott Sports Club you turn right and head towards Dorking. It is on the right hand side before you come into Dorking and it has a brown road sign.
2) Turn in here and you go over a speed bump and shortly after on the left is a large car park with a height restriction barrier.
3) To get to the sports club from here you need to walk to the end of the car park and in the right hand corner you will see a small barrier and an information board.
4) Keep to the left of these and follow the path for a few steps to a gravel road which you need to turn right onto.
5) Follow this past a house on your left (Bracken Lodge) and cross over the tarmac road in front of you.
6) There is a clearly marked footpath (yellow public footpath arrows) which now takes you through the trees.
7) This path is taking you down to the A25 which you will hear as you get closer.
8) Pass another house on your left (Milton Brook Cottage). The football pitches are only a few metres away and you are not next to the A25 for long.
9) Keep going and you will see the tarmac path next to the A25 ahead of you and a few feet along here on your left (almost opposite the entrance to the Unum offices) is a black wrought iron gate which takes you onto the football pitches.
