In this afternoon's friendly at Whitby Sports and Social Club, Ellesmere Port Town beat Holywell Town by 2 goals to 1.
Holywell Town played some great football and were desperatly unlucky not to win as the chances count would easily show Holywell into double figures with the hosts totaling only 3. Ellesmere Port were indebted to their goalkeeper who made a string of exellent saves to deny the Wellmen.
Wayen Edwards had a goal disallowed in the first couple of minutes and Tom Carney had a great effort cleared off the line. Both Danny Henley and Tony Roebuck also had shots hit the crossbar.
Manager John Haseldin was pleased with the great football played throughout the game and supporters who were there watching were dissapointed with the results but made up with the chances that the lads had and also with the football that was played. Even the referee commented as he walked off the pitch that we were one of the better teams he has seen playing at that pitch!
Holywell Town's next match is at home to Prestatyn Town on Tuesday night with a 7.30pm kick off.
