Hough End Griffins JFC were awarded the Manchester FA Community Development Club of the Year 2010
The Under 14 Girls beat Manchester City Girls in a penalty shoot out to win Hough End Griffins first county cup.
Five Chorlton men sat in there local pub in May 2005 talking about the possibility of starting a football team for their children. This idea has developed into a FA Charter Standard Club that children from across the area have engaged in regulary
Hough End Griffins now run teams from U-7 -14 with three girls teams as well as a weekly soccer school for 5-7 year olds and has attracted some fantastic local young talent.
The aim is two involve local children and parents in developing a strong, local, community-focused club. Chairperson Ian ?Boz? Walker says ?We have a fantastic committee, great coaches and we have received great support from The Hough End Centre and Broughton Park Rugby Club. Exciting times are ahead!?
U-10 coach and founder member Paul Evans likewise is excited about the future ?We want to get as many kids as possible off the street and into sport. Its great way of making friends and keeps and we have won many plaudits already with the style of football we teach where we encourage all the kids to play with a smile and express themselves?
