We finished the season in a good way by beating Bremhill View 4-2 to move level on points with them but knew that we would still need them to lose by 16 goals against Bromham to give us the title. In the end they drew meaning that we came 2nd in the league by 1 point for the 2nd season running.
After a bit of a shamoblic build up to the game with players arriving late we actually started well and took the lead after 10 minutes after a long kick from Joe was missed by the Bremhill defence and Ed ran on to make it 1-0. Midway through the half it was 1-1 when Mark Dolman got behind our defence and finished well but we took the lead again when Markos- effort from Webby-s corner was parried by the keeper to Ed who slotted it in from 10 yards. With 5 minutes remaining of the half we conceded from yet another set piece as Marcus Lovesy headed in a free kick to make it 2-2 at the break. As with the home game against Bremhill they had more possession in the 2nd half but we defended superbly and always looked threatening on the break. With 20 minutes left a good turn and pass from Ed on the halfway line saw Salty get in behind the defence, beat the keeper to the ball and lob him from the edge of the box to give us the lead for a 3rd time. This time we didn-t let it slip and even made it 4-2 in the last couple of minutes when Wicko was gifted possession in the centre circle and had time to stand still for a few seconds before finding a burst of pace to run clear and finish well. In the end it was a good end to another good season but yet again there was a disappointment that we couldn-t quite win the league.
