Hungate finished off their league season with another classy performance against a strong Deeping side. A somewhat casual start saw a couple of missed opportunities punished when Deeping scored on the counter attack after fifteen minutes. As usual no panic ensued and Hungate got themselves into serious mode and top gear with quality strikes from Clayton and Thrower giving the home side a 2-1 half time lead.

Possession and territory grew as the game progressed and another typical Clayton burst and good finish put the game beyond the visitors. Hungate rounded off their season with two quality headed goals from Rawson and Ketteringham to run out comfortable winners over a good side, with the Deeping keeper making three quality saves to keep out great efforts from McCourt, Dennis and Hunns.


Managers Comments:
This game encapsulated the performance of the team throughout the whole season. A sloppy start was inevitable with a party mood prevailing in the changing room before the game, but once again heads did not go down, as confidence is so high. Once the players got their serious heads on it was one way traffic with typical fast direct, effective football proving far too much for the opposition. Overall fitness, spirit, will to win and sheer determination set the two teams apart, coupled with the quality within the team lead to another impressive victory.
