The Club was formed in August,1977 as Hungate Rovers Boys Club starting with just two teams and increasing steadily over the next 20 years.With the advent of mini-soccer in the late nineties the number of teams increased dramatically and also with the introduction of girls football.
Hungate's first girls team was formed during 2002 with the club's name changing to Hungate Rovers Youth F.C in 2003.
For the coming season (2010/11) there are now 16 teams from Under 7's through to Under16's of which 3 are girls teams.

The Club first attained FA Charter Standard status in 2003 and are now proud to have been granted FA Development Club status received in June, 2009.
